That sounds amazing. Sounds like you had an amazing nurse. Wish there were more like that....As for the other one...sorry   Some people can be such smurfs.

The doctors were (BY FAR) worse than the nurses. Kept talking down to me and acting like I know nothing at all---saw a specialist last week and he said that I'm better with my medical record than ANY of the doctors who've written in it and used MY notes to form his file.

Suck it, crappy docs! Just suck it!

I've heard good things about Valley's birthing center. I went to Valley once because I thought I had apendisitis (sp?) I went to the ER because I was in tears and I have a high pain threshold. Not kidding, I waited just in the ER waiting room for 6 hours. There were homeless people sleeping in there and a baby was screaming for hours. Once I got back behind the doors, it was another 2 hours before a doctor even talked to me. It was ridiculous.

I've heard good about St. Joes though. I was born in Tacoma General

That's kind how my nurse was the second time around. It's like they forget that you're actually a person and not just a smurfing job.

I've lost 3 babies and almost lost our oldest at 21 weeks. I was told that if we lost him just to think about him as my other earlier losses since he wasn't viable.

I love him. He's HILARIOUS and kept me distracted and amused during my 36 hour labor with my oldest (10lbs) and took my son around to everyone to show him off when he was a newbie (after he was fed and snuggled  ).

After the delivery, I did NOT expect him to be the one to help me learn to breastfeed. I just laughed at him when he suggested that he was going to do it. I was like "Um...how many times have you done this?" and he just laughed and said that if it didn't work he'd eat his mask.

Worked like a charm and I nursed that fatty for 2 years  


With my preemie, he was my rock. At one point I felt a HUGE amoutn of pressure and a POP and something hit the wall on the opposite side of the room. I thought I'd launched my tiny baby across the room (keep in mind my first was 10lbs so DH and I had joked for years that if our next was under 8 the doc would just sit across the room with a catcher's mitt and catch). I absolutely PANICKED and he just calmly went over and checked and calmed me and said "Honey, baby's still in there. That was just your water. He's fine. You didn't hurt him. He's safe. We'll make sure he gets out of there okay" Keep in midn also that the docs had told me my water had broken and leaked slowly HOURS before---shows what the hell those idiots knew!

Oh my God!!! I don't know how people talk to other people like that. Dr. are smart, nurses are smart, but a lot aren't smart when it comes to grieving and having the common sense on what to steal.

I think they look at it as more of a job than actually talking to people. The guy that actually delivered my daughter came in before he left to go home to see how we were doing. He told me he hadn't seen a baby that big in a while and thought he'd come to visit. Which was nice since it kept the bitchy nurse out of my room for a few minutes.

So true. You're just a chart they have to get through til they can go on break or go home or sit down and rest their feet while they do paperwork

It sucks....but you know...I like to think that the people I hear about, the good ones. Like the nurse you mentioned earlier...those are probably the people that love their job more than they love their money. It's hard to find people who truly care for others.

What an amazing dude!! In the defense of it sometimes you can have a for bag so your water will actually break twice!

My losses are one reason why I want to go into something in the obstetrical world (radiology/ultrasound tech, doula, midwife, etc). Sometimes a mama just needs you to quietly hold her hand and let her know that SOMEONE cares.
