my first LO was born at 39wks 1dy and he was 9lbs 6ozs 21" long, my second LO was born at 39wks 3dys and he was 9lbs 11.7ozs 21.5" long and I vaginally gave birth to both with serious stitches afterwards

my son was born on his due date and weighed 8lbs 8oz

Both my boys were over due.
One was 42 wks, he was 7.6
& 2nd was 41 wks, he was 7.13

Ouch! Luckily I didn't tear or need to be cut.

You are actually measuring a couple cm (rule of thumb is about one cm per week of gestation), and if you do have a lot of fluid, she's probably right - small baby. But even if she's wrong...I gave birth to a 9 lb 8 oz baby with no issues. It depends on your body more than anything.

I disagree with the theory that your body won't make a baby that it can't push out, that your body knows when it's ready for labor, etc...Medical interventions should be a last resort, I agree, but obviously our bodies are not infallible when it comes to L&D. Women go into premature labor, don't go into labor at all, babies get stuck in the birth canal, etc.

I was due to have my babygirl this week on thursday the 18th .
but i had her the 11th she was 8 lbs 13.3 oz almost 9 pounds
and i wasnt even at my due date !
pushing a big baby out isnt all that bad . if you have an epidural .
its just alot of pressure , i cryed cause the pressure .
but we could be different . youll do good momma
dont beat yourself up ..
a big baby is a healthy baby (:
