Does any body else's family do this or is it just mine?

posted 14th Oct
My family has done this with my past two pregnancies. They start taking bets on when I will have the baby. It really bothers me because I am just trying my damnedest to get this baby to cook as long as possible and they are turning it in to a game. Every time I turn around they are picking a new date. My mom said I would have him yesterday and now says I am going to have him monday. My aunt has been saying her birthday which I believe is the 17th. My husband thinks I am going to have him next weekend.... I seriously have had enough. He will come when he is damn good and ready! Quite picking dates especially when I am worried about him coming that soon.

Do they have money on it?

DH's family has actual bets with large amounts of cash (20 dollars a person). The winner gets half the pot and the baby gets half.

It is totally normal, they are excited. Just laugh, roll your eyes and tell them if you make it to November they all owe you 40 dollars.

I guess I just don't see what is so exciting about a premature baby. It probably wouldn't upset me so much if they picked dates where I was term.

It makes me not even want to go over there because they are joking about ways to make my labor worse so I have the baby on days they picked. Like I am super freaked out by frogs and my step dad was telling my mom to throw one on me so I would freak out and go into full blown labor. I gave him a really dirty look and my mom just laughed.

They're just having fun. Most people don't understand that having your baby early isn't a good thing. They don't realize that babies aren't fully developed until they are term. As silly as that sounds, if you've never been through it you really don't think about it.

I can understand that.
Everyone kept saying my daughter would be born on SO's birthday, which was about a month too soon.
I kept saying, "NO. SHE NEEDS TO COOK! DON'T JINX IT."
No, it may be hard to explain, but I get it.

No, my family doesn't play the guessing game they just tell me that I should have my babies when it's convenient for them. My grandma always tell me I need to have my kids on a friday so that my grandpa will be off the following 2 days. Lately it's them guessing how big my baby will be. They keep saying that I'm showing more with this one (It's my 4th freakin kid) and she's going to be a big ass baby. It's so annoying.
