Keeping shoes on an antsy toddler?

posted 14th Oct
SO. My daughter will be two in February, and I am having the HARDEST time keeping shoes on her feet! We went to the park the other day and she would not stop taking them off. She ended up gettting splinters in her feet. Anyone else have this issue? What worked or is working for you? I've tried lacing shoes, and stroller to keep her out of harm's way, but nothing is working.

My 18 month old has an issue with shoes..he has quiet a few pairs..the only pair he is willing to wear is his red spiderman shoes, that light up.

Maybe if you try light up shoes?

I just started telling my son if he couldn't leave his shoes on he couldn't walk around. It took a little bit but he got the hint. He only takes them off every once in a while now as to where he would take them off as soon as you put them on before.

That sounds cool! I'm just worried she will want to take them off to hit them on the ground to light them up.

We have been trying that. We tell her that she can't walk and has to go in the stroller, but that just makes her throw the fit to end all fits.

He did that too but I just rode it out. I don't let his fits phase me, I just strap him in and keep pushing the stroller while he screams. Lol.

I get SOO anxious though! Some of those moms at the park are VERY judgmental. I had one tell me I may as well but horse shoes on her if I want to 'be so friggin strict'. I'm just sitting there like... Um? It's a STROLLER.

My son didn't start until about 16 months and still has them on occasion at 2 1/2. I just let him unless he's hitting or going to hurt himself. He can't get out all his frustration yet so I let him get it out that way.

And I love this bassinet. My mom bought it for me when I was like 6 weeks pregnant cuz she found it at a consignment shop for $50. Lol.

i have just been ignoring him when he does it. and its several times a day, when he wants something that "isnt for baby" so i just let him roll around on the gound like a crazy man and ignor him, hoping with no attention he will eventully get sick of doing that...hopefully. he hasnt done them in public yet, but im sure those days are coming, not sure how i will handle that.

we got the bassinett at a yard sale for 60!! lol, so strange!!
