re: Stupid cashier gave me back too much money

I would have given it back. when i used to count down registers, if it was more than $5 short, the cashier would get wrote up and after 3 write ups, they are fired.

Who is to say she wasn't having a rough day or did you forget that cashier's are people too that go through the same smurf everyone else does? No, but you got an extra $20 and dinner out of her mistake and you don't even care. She is not an idiot but you are a jerk.

Really, it's that hard to do the right thing and take 20 dollars back. She probably NEEDS her job.

Your blessing? The blessing would have been to have been honest, and give the money back. Blessings don't come by taking what isn't yours - even if it was mistakenly given to you.

My husband is an operations manager at a retail store and if a cashier comes up $20 short they the option to replace the missing money with their own cash to make it right or they get fired. He's had to fire 3 people this year because of that, he hates it but it's policy.

You think God takes away from others to bless people?   Sure it wasn't a TEST? Why does a thief deserve blessing, anyway? Because when you consciously take something that you know does not belong to you, it's called STEALING and that makes you a thief. Even if someone made a mistake and gave you too much change.

I accidently gave away an extra $20 once, guy took off with it, it came out of my wallet, and I wasn't able to get diapers. I'm not kidding. It was a really hard month and I cried over it.

Wow this is sad. I'm a single mom and working full time as a cashier. People make mistakes, for all you know she could have had a tragedy in the family recently, going through a divorce, or who the hell knows what could have been distracting her. You sound pretty heartless OP. Thankfully the one time I gave someone too much change they were HONEST and brought it back to my register. Thank goodness because there is no way in hell I would have been able to pay bills with 20 bucks out of my check at that time.
