re: Stupid cashier gave me back too much money

posted 14th Oct
The only thing I want to add to this is even if the OP were to return the money the next day, it would be too late in the eyes of the store. So if the cashier lost her job over the drawer being short, she still wouldn't have a job. I'm not saying she shouldn't return the money. I just think it sucks that no matter if she does or doesn't, that cashier was smurfed as soon as her shift ended. Places like that put in their numbers at the end of the day and close it out. And they can't go back and make amendments to the books if someone comes and returns the money later on.

Also, OP, I noticed from a previous thread of yours that you work at McDonalds. AS A CASHIER. So how would you feel if YOU got flustered by these "Ungrateful Americans" that you have for customers and you handed somebody back the right change PLUS the bill they handed you to begin with? Wouldn't you hope and pray they returned that money so that you didn't have to pay it out of pocket or lose your job over $20? Do unto others as you would have done unto you. If you wouldn't want someone keeping that money if YOU made the mistake, then you shouldn't have kept that money when she handed it to you.

Incorrect, a shortage can be made up as an overage the following day in the books. Banks work that way too

Oh see my managers always told me that it couldn't be made up after the fact. But that's awesome if it can.

It is more of a sccare tactic. At the end of the day, what matters are the checks and balances of the month.

However, you did make a valid point about her and her McDonald's job!

Sorry, if I drove home and noticed it I would NOT go back to give it back. I'd feel bad, yeah, but it's not like I stole the money. If I noticed in the store or in the parking lot, yes, I would. And it's definitely not worth losing a child over, wtf?

If that was your last $20, how do you plan to give it back? What did you buy?

She states later on that she was being sarcastic when she said she'd give it back.

I would probably give it back if it was a 20, but Jesus smurf people who wouldn't aren't scum of the earth. Don't get me wrong, op sounds like a smurfhead, but come on. Bringing her kid into it is trashy.

I wasn't around when they started berating her for losing a child, but I read earlier that she said she found it while still in the parking lot. She found it when she got to her car. So she could've just walked back inside and returned it.

Just saw that

Also saw that she had used it to purchase a few days worth of food for herself, then takes the "blessed" $20 and buys herself dinner. McDonald's is my guess.

Oh no. She works there. And she considers those who eat there "Ungrateful Americans."
