posted 14th Oct
I have a 3 day old babygirl , i planned on breastfeeding her my whole pregnancy . and when she was born thats what i did ..

well , she got all my colostrum at the hospital . shes quite the sucker too . which hurt my nipples very bad and they let me pump because of the pain .
i was prescribed a breast pump but i cant get it until tomorrow because the wic office is closed . so my baby has been on newborn enfamil . and last night my milk actually started coming in , so i was excited and couldnt wait to feed her .
well i did , and it was painful . my nipples are sore , cracked , and have bled because how she eats ( and its my 1st baby , so i have latched her on it wrong ) well , my milk is coming in again today my breasts are pretty engourged .

and i wanna feed her but im in sooo much pain from my nipples i dont know what to do .
help please ?

Do you have a good latch? I know I did and I still was pretty sore, I still feed through the pain and after a few minutes it went away. After a couple of weeks of nursing the pain was completely gone.

It's pretty common what you're going through, even if your baby has the best latch. Your best bet: go get some lansinoh cream. Slather it all over your nips before/after nursing and anytime you need it inbetween. Breastfeeding is difficult but very rewarding! Just power through it and try to adjust her to see if it helps. Make sure her upperlip isn't curled under (if it is just gently pop it out, that will help her get a deeper latch!) It can be sore and uncomfortable for a couple of weeks then one day it doesn't hurt anymore.. Good luck!

Get some lanolin, and load it on after every feeding. It's going to hurt the first couple weeks, but then it stops and becomes the most amazing experience.
Just keep at it; once you push through this first tough part, it is well worth it.
Don't give the baby formula if you can help it, and don't pump either- it will mess with your supply, and these first couple days when your milk is coming in are crucial to establish your supply.

Also! Don't give her a bottle or pacifier it can cause nipple confusion and she won't latch on correctly. Youch!

Honestly you shouldn't have introduced a bottle to her this early... she probably has a bad latch which is making your nipples sore. I would go see a LC and I wouldn't give her anymore formula, that is going to make her latch worse (nipple confusion) and it could hurt your milk supply since right now its crucial for your baby to be on the breast to make sure your making enough milk.

You can hand express. My nipples were the same way   I didn't want to give up at all so I stuck through the pain ugh! lol ! It gets better I promise I've made it 7 weeks today

You could try using a nipple shield. That's what I used when my nipples would get really sore. Breastfeeding does hurt the first few weeks until your nipples get adjusted to it but it does get easier! Good luck! It's totally worth it in the end.
