Charter School

I've been thinking about putting my oldest son in a Charter School. He is having a hard time in regular school. I know they do more hands on and one on one time. Does anyone have their child in a Charter School. Do you like it?

I went to a charter school for 11th and 12th grade. Best thing I ever did! At that school, if you went to school and didn't skip class, it wasn't possible to fail. Everything is class discussion and done in groups. So if you go to class and participate in the class discussions, you basically get straight A's. They don't assign homework, and we did group projects every day and went on field trips weekly. If the school you want to put him in is anything like the school I went to, I highly recommend it!

That sounds very good. I heard that the school that i'm looking into...they do alot of field trip time. I like the school hours also. 8:15 to 2:30. Thank you so much!! I think this school will move mountains for my son  

I want to get my son in to the Kipp charter schools here. They do it by lottery.
I have a friend who works at one and it's amazing!

You can ask any elementary school student there what college they want to go to and they can already tell you.
They teach about honor and respect. They have cultural, dance, art, etc.

It just floors me how much more up and beyond they go than just regular public schools.
The school hours are long here. From like 7:30am to 5:30pm (elementary school)

Thats a long day for a young kid well any kid really. The regular school hours here is 7:45 to 3:15....and I hate it. Charter School is sounding more and more better for my son.

I thought it was a really long day as well but then I though about it and the kids aren't sitting in their seats the entire time like in a traditional school.
They can be doing a science project outdoors for over an hour or they can be in dance for another hour.

When it's broken up into parts like that, I can see it not being as tedious as a regular hours for a regular public school.
