Can doctor tell sex on 3d ultrasound at almost 14 weeks

Hi. I have to go to the high risk doctor on the 29th of October because they want to check my spine because spina bifida is in my family. My obgyn said that the 3d ultrasounds are so good I may be able to find out the sex of my baby. Ill be 13 weeks and 4 days when I go. Has anybody else found out the sex that early in 3d? Was it right? Am I getting my hopes up?

It's a little early for that. I mean they can guess but I wouldn't buy anything based on that guess. At that point a penis can still look like a vulva. It's usually more accurate around 20 weeks.

well i found out my daughters sex at 15 weeks and it wasnt 3d...so im sure they can?

Yeah I was around that far along when they told me dean was a boy... I also had to be seen by hi risk drs... because same time they told me he was a boy, they told me he had something wrong...

With Jade I was already 4-5 months and they could only take guesses because the wa she had her legs crossed...   brat...

No and i think i had one at 16 weeks and they were able to tell im not sure but i would not go with that one i would wait.... My OBGYN has 3d on all there machines so thats about what the whole u/s is done in. But they wont tell u till after 16 weeks because before that its a guess.

I found out at 14 weeks and 5 days. It has been confirmed twice since that.

Its driving me and my boyfriend nuts not knowing.

I got lucky last time and found out at the end of my 13th week. That's the earliest I've found out though and I have U/S's every 2 weeks anyway. I would say the chances are slim, but you never know.  

I did at 12 weeks. He's still very much a boy.

Actually, external genitalia is exactly the same in both males in females at that stage in your pregnancy. To the girls who found out that early, you are lucky it was right.

With DD I found out she was a girl at 14 weeks. The Dr just wouldn't note it in ny chart because there was a 15% chance she was wrong. Sure enough, she was a girl at my 19 week ultrasound. So yes you can find out that early when you go to high risk Dr's and have high risk ultrasounds.
Another BG member who I became good friends with found out at 12/13 weeks she was having a girl....she's still a girl at 19 weeks.

Again, as I said, you are lucky. Some of my friends, five women total, paid for early gender ultrasounds (12-15 weeks) and all of their ultrasounds were proved wrong at their actual gender ultrasound, except for one momma. And I am sorry, but I cannot deny science and proven facts.

I agree with Bean, I have high risk dr's. They do scan on the high resolution scanning machines every 2 weeks or so starting from about 10 weeks on. 12 weeks is way too early to find out the gender. At 12 weeks, Both girls and boys have a nub which kind of sticks out like a penis. Around 13 weeks, that nub turns downward and shrinks in girl babies and gets bigger and more pronounced in boy babies.
