I had iv meds, I'm pretty sure it wad stadol because my nurse kept saying it and that's the only name that sounds familiar. It worked for like 25 minutes and then wore off, each dose lasting less amount if time. Then I got the epi. It was a godsend for me.

You just described how my labors were. Well 3 out of 4 anyways. My daughter I begged and begged for more and they wouldnt give me anymore. That smurf hurt with her.

bring your own if your hospital doesn't offer it.

it's important to use pure essential oils.. not just smelly stuff. Lavender is popular. I'm sure you could google it and find some available. Call the hospital too.. they may use it.

I only did the epi because I didn't want to be "loopy" while giving birth. I wanted to be very aware of the experience and try to enjoy it. Plus, my obgyn told me that most medications run a high risk of making you really sick to your stomach, which is not how I wanted to enjoy my labor.

IV meds make baby loopy too. if a mom progresses too quickly after IV meds... baby is born lethargic

Not a medication, but I used Hypnobirthing: The Mongan Method and felt no actual pain. It's crazy how strong our minds can be if take control of them.

Oh my goodness, yes. I was smiling and having a great time for the majority of it, and practically lived in the tub. Such a wonderful experience, birth.
