I hate getting WIC

Not because it isn't awesome, but because I have to deal with crazy people while waiting for it. I went in today, and had the craziest experience yet. First, there were three girls sitting in the corner, blatantly talking about their drug dealers and who to go to to get what. Then the guy to my right is shaking his toddler girl and calling her a little smurf because she dropped her juice on the floor. And just when I thought it couldn't get any crazier, there is a little boy running through the place screaming, when finally a worker got a hold of him, and went room by room asking who he belonged to. Turns out, he belongs to the only other girl in there, who I thought might be normal.

Usually, nothing like this happens, but man it made me feel like the odd man out. What a stupid place to let your kids run free/ shake them/ talk about drugs...
Anyone else have a crazy WIC story?

Well, now my WIC office seems fairly normal. Lol. I've only seen one child ever allowed to run free. His mom was in the back having the baby weighed and probably getting herself weighed.. Maybe talking to the nutritionist. And he kept running up from the back, opening the door, and screaming at me, "Hey lady!"

But that was just that one time. Normally people are just quiet and their kids either sit quietly or they play together and keep each other entertained.

The wic offices here are nothing like that..thank GOD. Lol
Here the one I go to only has one worker..& doesn't double book..so when you go..you're typically the only person there besides her. Lol

I used to get WIC when LO was a newborn, I have never seen such trash before.. I was also treated like I was trash because I guess that's what the office is used to dealing with all day long..

I would have reported the man shaking the little girl to a worker.

I hate getting WIC because people at the store are idiots. My WIC specifically states to get either 3 11 oz frozen juices or 1 46-48 oz bottle of juice. I always get 64 oz of juice because the store doesn't sell 46-48 oz.

I went the other day...the bitch made me go back and find the ONLY 46 oz juice they had....then made me walk back again, to get two more...Even though the WIC only states to get one. She argued with me about it, even though the voucher obviously stated ONE. I hope she loses her job for it.

As I was leaving the WIC office I was talking to one of the workers. As I opened the door to leave I heard a cracking sound. I looked up and saw this guy reach across the car and punch this petite girl right in the face! Screaming and yelling at her because she was pregnant(the wic office does free pregnancy tests and she just got a positive) He called her every name in the book and kept repeating how much he regretted ever meeting her. The worker ran back inside to get someone and he started yelling that she better take him home or else. She backed up quick(almost hitting me) and took off like a bat outta hell with him still screaming at her and her crying like crazy.

I would've jumped in but I was 8 months pregnant at the time.. I later found out that he was found and arrested. They had the girls name on file because she got the test done.

Other experiences have just been crazy bitchy females acting like bitches to their SO while they wait. Drives me insane.

Oh wow! And I thought my experience was bad. Glad they caught the guy though.

Our isn't too bad.. but there were 2 girls ignoring their screaming newborns. One was under 2 weeks and the girl said she was spoiled and that's why she did it. Even my husband said its sad he wanted to comfort their babies more than them.

I went to a Breast Feeding class at the WIC office a like 2 weeks ago, and two women brought a kid with hem. They just let them run crazy. One went up to a computer thing that said not to touch, and broke it. The other pulled her moms boob out while sitting there. And the only other time i went to the office, it was all trash. Its pretty ghetto here.

When I lived in Dayton, Ohio the WIC office I went to was crazy! I'd see ladies just sit there texting or doing whatever on their phones while their kids ran all over, sometimes into the back offices!They would have a gated area to sit behind with your kids while you wait and I remember one time a boy that took the toy trucks and would throw them over the gate, his mom didn't do anything about it o_o

The new office I go to is so much better. Very quiet most of the time, I never see more than 2 different people with a kid or two at a time whenever I go.

I was just about to mention Dayton! I normally go to the one in West Carrollton, but because I was breastfeeding, they had me go to the office on 3rd street to meet a lactation consulatant & get a good pump.

It was so freaking ridiculous. & on my way out carrying the Lactina in one hand, 2 black ladies whispered "Of course the white girl is going to spoil her baby and breastfeed. such trash."

Yea, I refused to go back to any of the WIC offices except West Carrollton. It's not as trashy there, thank Goodness,

I hated having Wic so much that I just quit getting it. It was just to gross for mr to handle lol

When DD goes off formula, I will probably stop using it as well. I always wondered why all the workers treated me so badly, and after that experience I get it.
