what should I do?

posted 13th Oct
Ok... so a little background info first....
Yes I have 2 children already but I was induced with both of them (oldest was over-due and youngest was induced early due to GD) so I never actually went through the early stages of labor with either of them. I never had contractions until I was actually laying on the bed in the hospital.... that is until now....

Here's the situation... I will be 39 weeks on Monday. I have been dialated 3cm for about 3 1/2 weeks now. I have had what I call "mini-contractions" for about the same amount of time but nothing that could actually be timed out. I have been up to L&D already 3 times and sent home in the past 2 weeks because they say that I'm not far enough along. For the past hour I have been having these mini-contractions approx. every 10 minutes but they are not painful at all. I honestly wouldn't even notice them if I wasn't sitting at the computer (the chair I am sitting in makes it really uncomfortable when they come). The hospital is 20 minutes away and everyone (we had friends stay over last night)in my house is still sleeping.

Should I wake them up and head up to L&D or should I wait and see if they actually start getting painful? They only last about a minute and then go away. Should I go for a walk and see if I can make them worse? LOL
Any suggestions would be helpful because like I said I have never actually gone through this stage before. My first son was born in 47 minutes! I wasn't even dialated when they gave me the pitocin and 47 minutes later he was born. My second son was 5 hrs but thats only because when they gave me the pitocin I ended up proceeding TOO fast and they had to actually stop my labor with some other medication and then start it over again.

I was going to say walk and see if the contractions get worse- but considering how short your labors have been, and that you are already 3cm dilated at your last check up- I would go in to be safe. Or learn to check yourself for dilation.

Well first thing i would do is eat, seeing as once you get to the hospital food is not an option until after delivery...lol but i'm greedy ... But yeah, walk a bit and if they get worse or have not gone away after a couple hours start making calls and get your bags in the car. Good luck and best wishes.

eat something and walk around for a bit...I wouldn't head to the hospital until you can time them at about 5 minutes apart. Mine didn't really start being painful until they were around 3-5 minutes apart...before that they were just more of a nuisance. My oldest was induced and I was in labor 12 hours...ugh
My middle child I had my membranes stripped and had him an hour after I got to the hospital
And LO was born less than 2 hours after I arrived....

I was about 20-30 minutes from each hospital too.

Yeah don't go in until they get painful and constant every 5 min lasting a minute or longer, again painful NOT uncomfortable. You're just having bh. I'm on the same boat....have been for the last 3 weeks lol. Gl

ended up going to te hospital on the morning of the 15th. They told me to go home because I wasnt far enough along....
I didn't agree with them so we decided to just walk around the hospital for a little while. 2 hours later I was admitted and I had my daughter that afternoon!
