I've had 2 c-sections. First one was horrible because 1: it's was an emergency due to major complications 2: Due to poor surgery prep I go a staph infection in the incision and kept telling my nurses it hurt but they just thought ai was overeacting. Stayed in the hospital 4 days hurt to move any which way but toughed it out. Went home and 2 weeks later after running a fever for 1 day went back to the doctors and shocked the crap outta the doctor and staff. After that ordeal and I found out I was pregnant again I knew I'd have to have another c-section and also I didn't want to go the same hospital. The second surgery and the second hospital was great!! Set me up for an epidural that stayed in for 24 hours AFTER birth which was great! Left the hospital after 3 days because I felt great and had no reason to stay. The doctor gave me a percription for pain med which I hardly used. I'm currently pregnant with my 3rd and will have her at the same hospital as the last. I actually almost look forward to it...Good luck!! I'm sure you'll do fine!

I had a c-section 10 years ago with my son and it was not that bad. I had it around 3pm and shortly before midnight I was up and walking around. I only really needed the pain medication the first 2 or 3 days. It does hurt to walk really bad to begin with but you just have to keep doing it and it helps a lot. I am having my 2nd scheduled c-section on Nov. 5th.

I had an emergency c section, and i tell pretty much everyone this. I would go through labor any day over having to deal with the recovery of a c section. I was awake the whole time, but on pain meds. I don't remember a lot of the procedure, just pressure. Overall, I can see how people are saying it's not "that bad," because when it's over and you've healed it was all worth it. But it does suck going through the healing process. I was restricted to lifting less than 8 lbs afterwards for 6 weeks, so i really wasn't even supposed to hold my baby (of course i did anyway). My husband had to change my undies and pads for me because i couldn't bend all of the way down for like 2 or 3 days. Basically my husband was stuck taking care of me and DD for he first 2-3 days. After that I was pretty able to take care of myself, but the pain didn't go away for about 2 weeks i want to say. Even now though, when exercising at the gym I will still get twinges of pain and I'm 6 months pp. Again though, it's all worth it.

i had to have an emergacy c-section for my son i was awake the hole time, and scared out of my mind lol. but for me personally for the next month in ahalf after it was horrible. i was in so much pain it was unreal.. i was on so many painkillers i couldnt breastfeed wich sucked, "BUT" i have heard so many other storys from ppl that they were up and walking and going about there lives the day or so after with out the complications i had, so i guess its all on your body and how it reacts, but if you do decide to induce labor you have a higher risk of haveing a c-section any way.. and depending on where you live if you deside to have any more kids, you are not aloud to have your baby natrualy for some resson wich is what im dealing with now... not fair at all..

I had two c-sections and well.....they were horrible...I was just a mess for weeks....It sucked because you dont get the instant bond of holding your baby, you are all drugged up and just dont care about anything....and the recovery pain is just not fun.....being drugged up for days on end is just a big blur you dont remember the beauty and love of giving birth!
I am praying for a VBAC this time!!!

i have had a c section it was fine when they pushed the baby out i thought i was going to puke but that was it. easy heal time too but im confused if you can have an induced vaginal birth why would your doctor even give you an option for c section and why would it be later than being induced if its simply because your baby will be too big to deliver at term then choose inducing because i wish every day i could of had my son natural and now i have to have a c section with every child i have or change doctors and hospitals.......

I just had a C section (my first baby) on Oct 1st. It was def. unexpected & everything happend so fast. I wouldn't say it was terrible but my nerves were so bad, i couldn't stop shaking. I just remember laying there, numb as can be, but feeling my nerves jumping & once i heard Mya cry for the first time, everything was so much better. I felt relieved. Now the pain after wards really bothered me, i could barley move/walk and when i did it hurt soooo bad that i was actually in tears at one point (but everyone is different & handles it differently) . It lasted for about 5/6 days then i was pretty good again. Just keep up on your pain pills. Trust me it is all worth it though!! I wouldnt change it

I had an emergency C section with my son. I had some complications during surgery but it wasn't that bad, mostly just a little strange knowing that I was awake during surgery. Recovery is painful but its surgery so pain should be expected and recovering from vaginal delivery is pretty painful too. The important thing to remember either way is to know your limitations. Don't try to do more than you can handle and don't be afraid to take pain medication when you need it. To be honest the worst part was pooping after surgery and they should give you stool softeners for that and if you drink flat dark soda it makes it a lot easier to go.
