Sippy cups for 12 month old

posted 13th Oct
I know lots of questions...just wondering what sippy cup you started your child out on? did you switch them to other ones later? I am weaning her off the bottle here and she does good with the Nuby sippys but that's all for now.

yeah she has been using the nuby with the handles. just really wondered if you switched to a different one after they mastered that. she has been taking that one since around 7 months.

we are working on a regular cup now. I don't use hard spouts. My pedi and dentist have advised against.

We started sippy cups at about six months. My DD only gets 3 sometimes 4 bottles a day... one in the morning one at nap time and one before bed. She likes the cheap munchkin ones at walmart the best and she doesn't like the ones with handles...

Both my youngest and my oldest refused sippies of any kind until after their first birthday. The ONLY cup they would take in the beginning was the NUK learners. With these kinda tops.

My oldest would only take the colored latex ones like the top while my youngest would only take the silicone ones like the bottom. IMO, best starter cups ever.

We just use he take of toss ones. Both of my kids took them fine from about 6 months on. And their teeth are straight and healthy.

He was on a soft spout sippy around 6 months (bottle too still though). then around 18mos I threw away all the sippys & he was on a regular cup ever since then. But between then he used soft spout, hard spout, straw sippys....

Never use learners. I immediately introduce the regular ones and my kids have never had trouble with them.

After about 3 months on the learners my kids would take any sippy.

Get her on a regular cup as soon as possible. Sure they'll be spills, but it's better for her as far as oral skills, muscles, & coordination.
Other then that, I've heard straw sippys are good too because it helps strengthen the muscles in her mouth.

those straw sippies are the devil. i will make another post about that. my son is 3 1/2 and won't drink through a regular straw, it either has to be his straw sippy or a regular cup(but usually the straw sippy)

Pfft who needs a straw anyway?   All they do is give you gas!
