Sorry... IMO, by you saying that you're "assuming" they are just bartenders or something of the like, that they aren't smart enough to A. become something else, or B. too stupid to cover up in order to look presentable.

Shrug... It's just how I'm taking it I guess. No big deal.

So do you look at yourself in the mirror and think you're a lowlife who couldnt possibly have a career? OMG.

And the post did not link to this one, and didnt mention a thing, NOR am i butthurt about it. It's an honest question. I am curious to see how many people on here have the ability to have careers and body art.

Stop putting words in my mouth, I never said lowlife or couldn't get a career.... but probably a person who doesn't have one.

And when I get to know the person and they do have a career or they don't, it really doesn't matter to me.

That's the reason people with body mods are so judged though... that's what I'm trying to say. You shouldnt have to get to know someone in order to think they may have the ability to have a career. If it's possible for YOU to have tattoos and a career, why not anyone else? you're judging based on appearance and assuming that it is unlikely they may have the ability to have a career.

You shouldnt judge so quickly... that's all I'm saying. If you're able to do it, other people are too.

I didn't say tattoos only, I said dreadlocks, facial piercings, ear stretching and all that too... HEAVILY TATTOOED as well, I imagine that means face and hands.

Yes, my first impression is they don't work at (I don't know the wording in English) places of "high social standing" maybe? But that sounds wrong.... I don't know the right wording. All of my friends who are heavily tattooed or have face piercings work as bartenders, waiters at bars and two tattoo artists... so it's what I assume through life experience.

Tattoos that easily covered or whatever are, well, easily covered and I don't think that they have many issues...

Okay, I understand more of what you are saying now. I guess I get upset because of all the judgement I get because of mine and I hate that people assume that I couldnt possibly be a good mother or provide for my family.

The other thread started from this, but wasn't a dig at you or anyone who doesnt agree. I was just curious. I'm not butthurt, and I'm able to see your side.

Lol, I think the issue stands with the type of people you associate with. You attract only bartenders... I am acquainted with many people who are modified who have 'high social standing' with in their job roles. I guess I just hang out with the clever tattooed people? *shrug*

Okay, just so long as you understand I don't hate on people who are tattooed or even heavily tattooed, pierced or whatever... I was asked my first impression of someone who had very visible body modification and their parenting or work... so I answered... no opinion on their parenting but an opinion on their job status.

My best friend has tons of face and neck piercing and refuses to cut his hair... he is so damn smart and could get an amazing job if he would remove the piercings and cut his hair a bit shorter, but he refuses to conform.

If your best friend is heavily modified surely you wouldn't have a negative first impression of those who are?

I'm a translator (apart from my teaching job) and meet a lot of people through that job. It could be living in this country...

I know women on here who are tattooed, pierced and all that and yet have great jobs/careers... but, it's still my first impression.

I don't have a negative first impression... I don't think they have high paying jobs or careers... is that really a negative first impression??
