And to answer the OP. Nah, I don't think they are a bad parent....unless the modifications are trashy and the person is trashy looking. My ears are stretched to 4g, I still have some of my dreads. I have a cluster of stars on my wrist and two tattoos on my back.

I'm not a huge fan of super large stretched ears. They give me the heebie jeebies. And I'm not a huge fan of facial tattoos.

I never think poorly about their parenting, I have a tattoo and want more.

I do wonder how some people have great jobs if they are heavily tattooed or have dreads or something, I often doubt they have careers.

Lol.... AGAIN...

What do you see in this picture:

The answer is probably just a normal girl sitting in HER office taking pictures with her cell phone. I have a career. I have my own office. I have responsibilities. I am also heavily tattooed. Thing is... you wouldnt know that by looking at this picture, because I am respectful of my employers and know my limitations on how far I can go (for instance, I would never tattoo above my neckline, my feet, or my hands).

I have pink hair and used to have my septum pierced, and will have visible tattoos. I work with the disabled, they love my hair. And I was just promoted after 8 months with this company. I'm on a waiting list to take nursing classes so I can make this my career and it pays great money.

Maybe I wasn't clear... that's my first impression and we all know that first impressions are rarely "right on" anyways. But yeah, dreads, stretched ears and heavily tattooed, my first impression is that they have jobs, sure, but not something that would be considered a career in or whatever.

I would never voice my opinion or insult someone, as I have a tattoo and just did something more fun with my hair (blue black and red). But I would assume that they didn't have a steady or long term job.

that's when I wonder what jobs they have. when they have neck/face tats or tats all over their hands.

I know, I've spoken to you plenty before and LOVE your hair!   I was just saying that it's my first impression.

And yes, the first time I saw your picture, I assumed (incorrectly) that you were either a SAHM or worked as a bartender or something like that.

It's my first impression, which is what I thought the OP was asking about...

Well I think it's very presumptuous. Modern society is slowly coming to terms with the fact that we dont always HAVE to look cookie cutter. MOST of the time, people who decide to modify their bodies or look different, already HAVE a career where they know it will be acceptable to look the way they do. OR, maybe when they are NOT at work, they dont feel the need to cover up, but do what I do, and cover up when going to work.

It is really judgmental to assume those people are too "stupid" to have a career or don't have the common sense to cover up their body art in order to support themselves.

The ones that's Ive met are either tattoo artists, or artists in other aspects I guess. I don't think I've seen anyone at a bank or selling houses, etc... but I'm sure they have jobs/careers, just maybe not some that "we" would deem as a normal career, ya know?

Yeah. I always assume their job is something of those sorts (tat artists, or even mechanics.) I know they're carreers, just when most people think career, tey think "normal" office. 9-5 in a cubicle type thing.

Yeah, just restating for everyone in the thread too

It seems to me, at least here, that nurses and those working in the medical field can get away with body mods. My daughter's preschool is pretty relaxed about tattoos too, her teacher has a full sleeve.

I never, ever said I thought they were stupid...

I have many friends with face piercings, tattoos and all that, they are all bartenders or waiters at bars, or tattoo artists.

It's an assumption I have made with what I've seen.
