I have a day of the dead girl on my arm with a bottle to her mouth signifying she drank herself to death. I've been told many times its offensive. I'm still a badass parent.

Yeah, but what if it's an old tattoo and they think different now? Or what if they KNOW BETTER than to impose their views on their children? You CANNOT assume it's a bad parent unless you view them telling them to "hate n*****s" with your own ears, or see them beat their children, etc
