Extended breast feeding.

I was just wondering when you deicded to stop breast feeding?
How old was your LO?
What made you decide to stop?
Did you encounter any discrimination for breast feeding a child over 12 months?

I'm currently breast feeding my 14 month old. My goal is 18 months but we'll see xx

I stopped around 9 months with my last because he kept biting me and I'm king of attached to my nipples literally lol.

18 months. I was just done. We were going on a trip and I was ready to not be tied down with my boobs all the time. And she could still get great nutruiton from a healthy diet.

I'm watching because I'm wondering the same thing. DS will be 7 months tomorrow.

I bf until he was 15 months. We stopped because he didn't have much interest anymore and I was ready to stop.
I faced more support and appreciation then discrimination.

Mine both nursed until they were 17 months, I was going to let them go until they were ready to wean....but start encouraging weaning at 2 years. They both, on their own, just suddenly stopped wanting to nurse at 17 months.

Mine still nursed in public until around 13 months, when they were mostly down to just a few times a day, at home. So, I didn't really experience any weird judgement.

I had kinda planned on stopping around a year from his due date since he was early and that's what the doctors reccommended but he didn't seem interested at all. He is almost 18 months and stil nusring. I am just waiting until he's ready to be done
ETA-I do catch a lot of crap for still nursing him and have since he was about 6 months old. The only reason I "get away with it" is because he's still so small. A lot of people tell me they think it's weird 

DS is 15 months and still bf a lot. I will let him wean himself. He bf in public sometimes still and no one has bothered me about it.

My son went to 2 1/2 years and just stopped within the last few weeks once my milk dried up. He would have gladly kept going though! I'm also hoping he starts again once the baby's here (he'll be 3). I'd love to tandem  
Yes I experienced a little discrimination but most people were happy for me, and everyone else I tried to educate rather than just giving an attitude back. (Sometimes they got attitude though lol)

He's around 27 months. I stopped counting after he turned 2 lol. Still nurses every now and then. I wanted to stop like a year ago but its easier said than done. He's extremely attached.

Interesting answers ladies! Seems like the majority let your baby decide when to stop.

My LO drinks only from me and uses no cups or beakers as she has no idea how. I introduce them to her all the time throughout the day and I know eventually she will understand how to use them. Until then obviously I will have to keep breast feeding. I don't mind. I enjoy it really and will be sad when I stop. But yes.. eventually, obviosly.. I will stop.

I stopped at 29 months. My son had never slept through the night so I was just exhausted. It only took one weekend to do. And I got constant crap from everyone I knew besides my husband. I basically just told everyone else to butt out.

I'm jealous of you ladies. I wish we had went longer. Once the baby is born I plan on letting Ds try again if he wants to.

I nursed my son until 2 1/2. My daughter is almost 9 months, still nursing, and hopeing to nurse her full term til she weans herself.

I totally feel your pain!! My daughter is a biter, but I would feel guilty if I weaned her before 2 1/2 (since my son nursed that long). lol
