Question about sleeping patterns

posted 25th May
Ok, so normally Kylie normally sleeps 8 hrs during the night *waking up for a feeding, of course*, then will take a couple of hour long naps during the day, and is in bed by 11pm. Well, last night, she only slept five hours. She went to bed at about 3:30am, and woke up at around 8am, and took an hour long nap today, and here it is, 1:30am, and she is still awake. Not only that, but for the last two hours, she has been eating constantly. She finishes one bottle and screams until I give her another. She's probably eaten 10-12 oz in the last hour. But, she isn't throwing it up, so I don't think that I'm overfeeding her. She'll be 2 months old on Tuesday. Is this normal for infants her age?? I've tried walking her, rocking her, laying her down with her pacifier, but unless she is being fed, she is just screaming and yelling.

She might just be growing, and just awake.

But sometimes gassy babies do think they need to be fed.

Try some gas drops, my daughter when she is gassy wants to lay on her tummy. So I lay her on my tummy with her on her tummy, and we watch TV until she's done pooting everything out. Lol.

She will be two months old the 15th of next month, and she takes a lot of bottles during the day time, and doesnt sleep alot. Then at 11pm she is out for 5 hours, wakes up to eat 6 ounces, and passes out again for three more hours. Then she's up for the day.

Yeah, I gave her Mylicon (It was the Walgreens brand) about an hour ago, then laid her on her belly and rubbed her back like I had read, but that didn't work either. She just got pissed that there was no bottle in her mouth. Hahah.

Hm. For awhile I used a syringe and filled it up with water; squirted it into her mouth and then stuck her pacifier in her mouth. It kept her from eating for like an hour and a half, and it wasn't enough to make her spit up or anything. Maybe that could keep her from just plain wanting food.

But then again, she could just be growing and needing more!

you should try a pacifier. maybe she just wants to suck and not neccesarily eat. I think that is a lot to be eating at that age!

I tried the pacifier. She sucks on it for a minute, then when she realizes she isn't getting food, she gets angry.

Have you tried gripe water? Ally was really gassy and the gas drops wasn't enough. I found the gripe water while returning for a SECOND Mylicon bottle (shes only a month old!). Combined w/ the Mylicon it worked wonders on my sweeties tummy. We also swapped to name brand Mylicon. I'm not sure if there is a difference b/c I started it the same time as the gripe water, but we are sticking to whats working for her....

If she's not asleep in about ten minutes, I'm heading up to Walgreens to get a bottle...lol

*also if you are using a powder formula- If not shaken up properly it actually CAUSES gas...even the Enfamil Gentlease which is specially formulated for gas and fussiness.

Really? I didn't know that. I usually shake her bottle for about thirty seconds vigorously before giving it to her. I hope that's enough??

are you using warm water? I know its thought that it doesn't matter if the milk is warm or not, BUT it helps the powder mix a little better...so its not so much for baby, but for the powder to break down a little better.
