Going Out As A Parent

posted 12th Oct
I am so tired of seeing women who have kids and seem to spend most of their time at the bar, with their parents watching their kids. It is absolutely ridiculous how often I see it anymore, especially on facebook, where they are posting that they want to go out and who's coming with them, blah blah...they need "space" and "adult time". I need adult time too, but I am a parent and have no clue what that would even be like anymore. I became a parent in '08 and then had our second child just recently and I think in the 4 1/2 years my husband and I have been parents, we've been out a handful of times and most of those instances were for special occasions or anniversary celebration with dinner and a movie and home by 11pm.

Since when does it mean because you are a parent that half of the time you need a "break" from it. I can understand needing space and adult time, believe me I do, but every single weekend and why getting drunk being the only option? Anyone else get annoyed by this and see more of it anymore?

I do. Especially this one girl I know that leaves her 5 year old at home by herself while she goes out and drinks all night.

you sound jealous.

There is nothing wrong with parents having a night out without the kids.

Why does it bother you so much if the children are being cared for?

My son goes with us everywhere. (Well, obviously not into bars, we just don't go to bars, lol) I do understand wanting a night out every now and then, though. Like, if me and DH want to go a see a movie, it's really hard to bring DS with us, so usually we just don't go, but it would be nice to be able to. You know?

It's not something I understand, or could do. Some people think I'm bad though, I go on a monthly date night with DH...and I've been criticized for it being "too often". Once a month, for about three hours, to enjoy my husband...whatever.

Ya, I'm super jealous to not be a part-time parent who shoves their kid off on someone else every weekend to have a bender lol. I don't think so lol.
