re: Going Out As A Parent

posted 12th Oct
Eh I go out twice a month and let g-mama have "her baby" for the night. Im a parent but I cant hang around a infant all day, sometimes you have to let loose.

Every weekend seems like a bit much but to each their own. I think parents do need a break though.

There is one girl I know who is out every weekend. She lives with her Mom and Dad who cares for her kids whether she is home or not. She cannot afford to get a place of her own, she says, but she can afford to drink every weekend. Interesting concept.

But she is out every single weekend. Her husband and her got divorced because she wanted more children and he did not and got a vasectomy..she wants more kids but does not care for the ones she already has. All summer long, when I took my daugher to the public pool, I would be at the baby pool and never saw her there with her kids...her Mom would take them every single day, while she laid at home, resting in the air conditioning lol.

That all sounds like it's a lot of none of your business.

I do cut little holes for their eyes and mouths, just saying.

And I'm actually considering getting a babysitter once a week, just so I can breathe a little. I understand why parents look forward to preschool/school. I should probably talk that over with DH, huh?

I have no problem with people doing this if its what you want.

I have one girl on my facebook he goes out every single weekend, then spends the rest of her time being like "my kids are my world" then bitche sif her mum can't have them one saturday night. that annoys me.

otherwise O enjoy an active social life. I'm out with my girls about every 6 weeks or so while there dad watches them, he goes out with the guys while I watch them and if we're having a night out together my mum watches them . Its not a big deal.

What about parents who travel all the time for business to support their family, are they terrible parents for missing weeks on end multiple times a year?

Wow really?

I actually think its insane that people think going out without kids shouldn't be done....and extremely unhealthy for the parents IMO. I think all parents deserve at least one night out a month without kids to stay sane and have adult interaction, keep up adult friendships, destress, etc. I mean of course when it's done too much that's a different story, but everyone has a different opinion on how much is "too much".

I try to get out by myself at least once a month! DH takes care of the kids so I can go out & have a breather. I see nothing wrong with it. I don't go out every single weekend & I don't always go to the bars.

DH & I also try to have a 'date night' at least once a month. Doesn't always work out that way because we don't always have someone to watch the kids.
