re: Going Out As A Parent

Why is every weekend too much time, when there are grandparents who want to take the child so the mom and dad can have some peace and quiet?

i was never the "go out" kind of type. but being a mostly SAHM (i work like nine hours a week right now, going to school but on a break, looking for a new job), i'm home alot and with my teething baby alot. lol. i need to have time to reorganize myself or i'm worthless. i like going out and like just going to the park and walking or taking a drive, going to the mountains, river, whatever. doesn't take much to keep me happy. but part of me staying happy is having some time away from DD.

I'm a STAHM too... I don't like staying in the house all day everyday...makes me crazy..My son and I have to go out more often then not during the week or I get depressed. He gets bored too staying inside all day he gets frustrated. Usually just go to the park or long walks or the store...or visit friends or family. When my fiance is off we do a lot more  . I wish I had mountains nearby and a river that sounds gorgeous!

DD is only six months old right now and i think i just need to find a better way of lugging all her stuff around to take her out more. lol.

The funny thing is so many women justify allowing their working mate extra time away to relax, pursue hobbies, etc. because they work out of the home and 'need a break.' I've been a single parent for years. I do what you and your husband do collectively with one body. I am not a partier but you're damn right if I needed some R and R once a week I would be taking it. Some people fish, some go to the gym, some want to spend their free time drunk. NOT my business. Nobody comes home to relieve me of my duties, and thats true for a lot of parents. Remember that.

I usually put my son in my beco sling and then put all his stuff in a backpack that has a lot of compartments  ...I take the back pack everywhere...diaper bags suck..I need more room! I'm jealous...the only cool thing here is a lake that's pretty much nasty anyway but there is a wild life sanctuary that's pretty!

Agreed with ALL of this. Sometimes takeing time for yourself is what keeps you sane.

Exactly.

ALSO at the time when parents want to go out, the kids are sleepy or already in bed...so are we suppose to stay home and stare at them sleep?

I see nothing wrong with clubbing. I see nothing nothing wrong with clubbing EVERY weekend.....kids are already in bed at that time anyways, so what's the big deal? Am I suppose to watch them sleep? There is nothing my child needs/wants when they are sleeping. They usually fall asleep between 9-930 and me and DH will leave around 1030. I don't go out every weekend, its more like a few times a year but thats bc I am so worn out from work.....if I wasn't so tired , I'd be going out a lot.

Psh, didn't you know? We're supposed to stand and hover over our babies and watch them sleep.

if you don't, you're a terrible part-time neglectful parent that deserves to have your kids taken away from you!
