re: Going Out As A Parent

I don't know everyone who goes out all the time but I do know some and those are not hypothetical people, they are people I know and who talk about what they do and post about it quite frequently so you easily know what they are doing. The one I spoke about specifically to make my point of the time of person I am talking about I happen to know well, as well as my other friends who know her, so she is not hypothetical at all.

The "no smurf" was in response to saying she was neglectful, which was the point I was trying to make from the very beginning. Her kids aren't going to be taken away because her kids have what they need and are clothed and she provides food and care for them...she just neglects them emotionally which is't a crime, but isn't the best thing to do either in my opinion. I guess some people are all for it here, but I'm not. Her husband is a doctor, he gives her the money to provide for the kids, and her parents do "daycare" or "nightcare" for them so to each their own, I guess.

Haha. Okay.

Whatever makes you feel better about yourself, keep ranting and raving.

I know you've never been in the situation where you've been a single parent, so keep on judgin' and ASSumin'.

Meh, we've thought about putting LO in daycare 2-3 days a week so I could have time for myself. I'm a SAHM and I wouldn't plan on getting a job, I just want a break. Considering DH's job doesn't allow for me to have breaks from LO and I don't have a support system here I wouldn't find it odd. Of course everyone I'm sure has their opinion about that, but whatev.

Everyone needs adult time, but every weekend is too much adult time IMO.

I'm too nervous to let anyone but my parents or inlaws watch my son....but even when they offer...I don't really do it...there have been 3 times I have left him and the longest was 3 hours. I miss him too much...I don't really want breaks... not a whole day anyway

that's totally fine, too. if you don't feel like you need/want a break, then more power to you. personally, i NEED to have a break. if i don't, my anxiety gets really bad and i kind of shut down. i need to have a little time to just focus on breathing sometimes and SO and i need time together to remember that we love eachother and not only be parents for a bit. i am personally one of those people where if i can't take care of myself every once in a while, i won't be able to take care of others, including my baby.

And why the objection to bars anyway? Would you still have sand in your twat if they were going out every night to pottery class?

Yeah you do need to have a healthy mind  ...I get the opposite comments..some of my family tells me my son and I need time apart everytime we visit...I just think it depends on the person..what works for one person wont always for another...I do kinda get jealous of some moms that go out a lot...because I miss the old times with my some of my old friends ...BUT I get jittery and anxious without my son..I can't enjoy it if I'm away too long

One of SO's friends is like this. She has her son in full time daycare from 6:30am - 6:30pm her dad takes him Tuesday and Wednesday nights so she can go to the gym/personal trainer, and then her dad also takes him from friday night - monday morning so she can spend the weekend doing whatever she wants. This happens every week and has been since her son was born.
