This is how you know to deal with things. There is nothing wrong with that. Just remember there are ways out there to cope, you just have to be willing to research options and actually give them a chance.

I'm already on medication..

Medication won't stop the urges.

Not from my experience. My brother in law is a cutter and he is on meds but he still has to find a healthy release for the anxiety. For him it's reading a book or taking a walk.
