If you were smart, you WOULD see that as a concern. The economy has become more global, America is no longer a manufacturing super power that it once was.

Yet somehow we've managed to capture 15 out of the top 25 universities in the world with our sinking education.

Oh, that's right, because our universities are privately run while our smurffy elementary and secondary systems are largely run by the government.

Lol, she must be pretty well off to be 21 and have already traveled the world extensively. Maybe a 1%er?

I've been "in manufacturing" and am very aware of our standing and the reasons why. I worked for 2 multinationals.

No doubt we all have so much to learn.
I bring up your age as your "traveled the world" comment is to make it seem like you are so worldly and knowledgeable. Going to a few countries at a young age without tasked with getting results there does not make you an authority on better economic models.

wow!! I honeslty think alot of our isses with kids and school is lack of parenting and discpiline! I could never be a teacher.. I would be telling parents to start discplining their children I am not their parent or effing babysitter

Yup. You can throw SOME money at schools and get improvement but you really can't throw money at parenting.

One place you haven't been is REAL struggling country. I have- India. And, if you compare, the US has it damn good. Hell, we are still better off than most countries in the world- North Korea, South Korea, Israel, India, Greece, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, etc, etc, etc.

We are better off in many ways than most European countries. Things aren't great across the pond.

Exactly! Everywhere! It's not the just the US, but people don't get that.

When i hear people who have business in europe and here they are emphatic that europe is worse.

large swaths of europe have negative population growth
it lterally sucks so bad people don't want to LIVE anymore
they don't want to make babies!
the most basic, profound of human urges, and they don't even have the desire and drive for that
all they can do is protest mindlessly for ever more paltry incremental *benefits*, i.e. crumbs from the little that remains of what was once, or could have been

i love when people talk about europe. they are breeding themselves out of existence, and we're supposed to what, want to be like them?
like france, whose best and brightest are fleeing in large numbers each year?
like the brits, who are afraid to go out on weekend nights, because of the roving bands of drunken projects kids?
o, right, the scandindavians, i almost forgot. because there are so many booming, growing ideas that have emerged from norway in the past 10 years

europe is finished, it's on its last legs, even a cursory glance at a newspaper shows this glaring thruth beyond any doubt. and hells bells, i'm FROM europe, so i'm not gloating.
i doubt the euro has more than 5 years left.
look at greece. look at the sovereign debt crisis. Spain, Italy are no longer trusted to even honor their debts. only germany is left, and they won't be willing or able to sponsor the greeks' full retirements at age 52.
