If not, Jr is the best option.

I like the 2nd. IMO I've always hated junior. And esquire is very different. I don't think it sounds cocky either.   and you can give baby a nickname, like Jake or something.

Not sure where you got the idea that Esquire means the 2nd. Esquire is a title appended to a lawyer's surname or a polite title appended to a man's name when no other title is used in a letter. It's a fancy way of saying "Sir" or "Mister".

Thats the modern meaning. If you looked back in the 14th century, it means 2nd. as in second to the knight.
