I'm wanting to avoid the Cytotec my OB wants to use Sunday night for induction, they don't have Cervadil. I'm being induced due to baby's abdomen measuring very small compared to her overall size and is surprisingly much smaller than my first two babies. I will be 39 weeks Tuesday, but she is inducing Monday because she is on call and I want her to deliver LO if possible. Did you use EPO and did it work? I only have a couple of days to try it, but at this point I want to try to get my cervix softened up as much as I can to avoid the Cytotec. Thanks guys!

I heard cytoec is very dangerous. Not meant for inductions but I may be wrong

you could try it, i swear EPO worked like a charm for me i used it for one week and i dilated to a 2 also i think i could feel it working i felt like a burning all throughout that week. It could just be a coincidence that i gave birth a week after using it or it could be cause the EPO helped..it's worth a try

It worked for me! my cervix was REALLY soft after only a week of use. But i was taking them and also inserting them. I think like 2 at a time up there. Just wear a pad because that smurf will leak out

Ina May reviewed 30 studies on using Cytotec (generic misoprostol) for labor induction and found that out of 3,415 births there were:
14 baby deaths
25 uterine ruptures
2 maternal deaths
2 life-threatening hemorrhages
The most significant finding in these studies is that most of these women were given the SMALLEST DOSE POSSIBLE (25 mcg). None of these women had scars from previous cesareans either.
Other side effects of Cytotec include:
hyperstimulation of the uterus
uteroplacental blood flow
uterine rupture (requiring surgical repair, hysterectomy, and/or salpingo-oophorectomy)
amniotic fluid embolism
Pelvic pain
retained placenta
severe genital bleeding
shock
fetal bradycardia
fetal and maternal death have been reported.
increased risk of uterine tachysystole, meconium staining of amniotic fluid, and Cesarean delivery due to uterine hyperstimulation
