Circumcision

posted 11th Oct
Due to insurance issues...grrr!....my son won't be able to have his circumcision surgery until after he's a year old and on my insurance. I have heard it's better to have the surgery done early as opposed to later. Is there medical reasons for this, or is it more of a preference? Any moms out there go thru this with their baby boys?

I wonder why??? the hospital normally wants to do it when they are born!!! that has to be painful for the baby.

I am choosing to get it done because there is less risk with infections or stds later in life plus I work in healthcare and I have seen it get stuck I the up position on several men and that is the choice my hubby and I made if this baby is a boy I know other ladies here have a different opinion but that's what we choose plus my hubby had a crooked penis when he was born and had to have it when he was around five not a nice experience

Just don't have it done. It's going to be extremely traumatizing and painful to preform a circumcision on a one year old boy.

He won't get an infection if he has good hygiene habits, which you should be teaching him. Also, on that same note, he shouldn't be getting any STDs if you teach him about safe sex, either.

Don't get it done or pay out of pocket.
It is not medically necessary and is considered cosmetic surgery.
Or if you are set on doing it do it right away to avoid traumatizing the child.

SO is not circ'd and has never had an STD or UTI. I also work in the healthcare feild. Around here 90 percent are circed but throughout the US it is around 50 percent.

Seems kind of like everyone is expecting their sons to be nasty people that never bathe and have unprotected sex all the time.

lol, ikr.....Its like well, ummm, if he bathes correctly and has protetcted sex he will not have to worry about anything. This may sound harsh, but I always thought of circumcision as letting a guy/child/son be lazy with his hygeiene. Like " Let me circumcise my son so he won't have to bathe as often or he won't have to bathe properly, he can just let the water roll of his penis"

I guess, yeah, circumcise your son if you aren't gonna teach him good hygiene and and tell him the imporatance on protecting himself when haveing sex.

No reason to have it done, but if you're set on it, it's actually better to wait. The risk of dying is increased the younger they are. Seriously though - there are no benefits except what some people think to be a "prettier" penis.

no insurance will cover getting a bay circumsized cause it is not medically necessary and they do it normally before there a month old because than they wont remeber it i dont think it is right to have a 1yr old get it done my first son is circumsized because everyone told me it was healthier for them and all this other stuff but my newborn wont be getting circumsized cause i read more into it and its not necessary for them to have it
