no period while breastfeeding..normal?

Anyone else not get their period while breastfeeding?

I had bleeding for about 4 weeks after LO was born then it stopped. Got my 'period' at 6weeks pp around Aug. 1st and haven't had it again since. I've taken about a half dozen pregnancy tests (even though we've been careful) and all have been negative.

I am EBF and co-sleep so LO nurses off and on during the night, could this be why I'm not getting it? I'm not complaining lol just wondering if this is normal?

Very normal, I didn't get a period til 10 months PP.

with my first I ebf'd for 6mnths and never got my pd after the pp bleeding. with my 2nd I ebf'd for 4mnths and same thing no period after the pp bleeding. once I stopped bfing and it all dried up I got my pd.

Very normal. I didn't get my period back until 8 months pp, and even then it wasn't regular until closer to a year.

I didn't get a period til my daughter was 13 months old. It is very normal.

Ahh I'm so happy it's normal lol I've been all freaked out about it. Does that mean I can't get pregnant right now? Not that we'll stop being careful about it just curious how that works

While BFing usually delays the onset of your period there is no telling when it will actually come back. I have know plenty of women who just relied on BFing as their BC and ended up pregnant the first time they ovulated so they never actually had their period.

nope you can get preggo again even ebfing didn't your dr. ask you about BC or maybe you didn't have your pp check up yet.

granted a friend of mine breastfed and didnt use anything. They went 14 months before they got pregnant and that was when she started weaning

They did but I don't want to be on bc, I've tried everything under the sun and had nothing but bad reactions so we just use condoms instead. Just was curious whether it was still possible lol was hoping no period meant a little added security

yeah definitely won't be relying on that I am so not ready for another one yet
