i've always wondered if this was normal.

For as long as I can remember this has happened, and it only happens when I lay down. Like, a few minutes after I lay down.

So I'll lay down, and everything will be fine, but then all of a sudden it's like I can't breathe. for 10-20 seconds, I'm laying there wheezing and gasping for air, like my lungs can't fill or something. and then everything will be normal again.

like I said, it's just something that has always happened. does it happen to anyone else.

Sleep Apnea kills. I'd go get checked out to see if you have it. Especially if you are overweight or smoke, or it runs in your family.

i just read up on it, and it describes it perfectly. but all the "risks" don't relate to me at all. lol. I donm't smoke, noone in my family has it, i'm not over weight, i'm not old. lol. i guess I have to call my PCP

I would, it really is a serious condition. Your PCP will recommend you to a sleep clinic. Better be safe than sorry. I had the symptoms, plus i smoke, im overweight AND my dad has it. But turns out i didn't have it. I'd rather waste a night doing the study than have it and not know it.

I've only had that happen once, but I was dreaming that someone was behind me strangling me, but when I went to move their hands, nothing was there. I just couldn't breathe. It was probably 20-30 seconds.
