SAHM's Best Advice, Tip, Trick, etc

posted 11th Oct
Hello ladies   I am a SAHM to a 7 year old and a 4 month old. I have been a SAHM for about 2 years and some things I just can't seem to get the hang of. I have narcolepsy so my short term memory is shot and I have a hard time remembering to do things that I am supposed to do, ie: meal planning, shopping, appointments, etc. I recently put a calendar in my kitchen, it's not very big though, and I have my own 'Mom Manager' calender in my purse that I am starting to love!
I just want to hear some advice, tips, resources, etc that other SAHM couldn't survive without. Tips for chore/reward systems, allowance, keeping a kids room clean, system for housekeeping/maintainance etc. ANYTHING that you ladies find important! Thanks mommas

I keep all my appts in my phone and then an alarm goes off. I also have a mom calender on the fridge. As for cleaning i just make sure that i do it everyday so it doesnt get out of control. Cause once it does its hard to get it clean. I wash the floors every other day, do the bathrooms once a week really good, then wipe them down in the middle of the week or whenever they need it. The kids clean their own rooms, and when they go to school i go in and do it better. Lots of times i just leave their rooms though cause they just keep getting messy. And as for laundry, I do at least one load everyday.

I keep a couple of notebooks around the house or on myself to write myself reminders. My short term memory is smurf too and I forget things almost instantly so I find that it helps to keep a pen and paper around to write down things that might be important later. When I get ready to go shopping I actually try to make up a menu first so that I can figure out exactly what I NEED to get and that way I don't forget anything when I'm at the store. Maybe pick up a dry erase board for your fridge to write memos on I have one of those it's a life saver! When LO gets bigger I'm either going to make a chart for chores etc or do another dry erase board for her so that way we can see what she needs to do and check it off when she's done. Hope it helps

I am a whiteboard junkie   I have one whiteboard for meals and things we need to buy at the store. A calender so I know exactly what going on each week. I break up the house into days and focus on one room a day with laundry done every other day and sweeping done daily.

I pick up the normal house mess everyday and of course clean the kitchen after dinner. Other than that, I clean the house from top to bottom 3 times a week (Sweep, mop, dust, bath tubs, toilets, floors, etc.).

I don't have a system for laundry, when a load needs to be done, I do it.

DD (3) and I clean up all her toys as part of her bedtime routine.

I usually meal plan on Saturday, before I go to the store that weekend. And I made this (not my picture) from pinterest,.. It's just a framed piece of lined paper with a bow and I write on it with a dry erase marker for my meals. As I cook them, I erase them.
