Walking for weight loss

posted 11th Oct
I see a lot of posts from moms who want to walk as a main form of activity for weight loss so I thought I would give a few tips.

1. Walk an area that changes. For example, walk a trail that has hills.
2. Keep a swift pace the entire time. Pick a pace and stick with it.
3. When walking uphill, don't go slower, power through as fast as you can manage! This will boost your heart rate and burn more calories.
4. When walking down a steep hill, don't let your body weight pull you down the hill to the point that you are running. Sure you will get done faster but you won't burn many calories that way at all. Instead, walk slowly and controlled down the hill. This will work your legs like you can't imagine! Don't believe me? Try it when your legs are sore and you will feel the muscles working.

Here's some motivation for you ladies today!

Awesome that you put this up! I thought about the same thing. I started walking and then went to running. I got addicted to running running 20+ miles a day sadly. I miss it. Can't wait to get back with it.

It is finding the time that I have trouble with! That and there is not any point in me starting anything now unless I am going to maintain it in the gym.

Haha, I have a big folder on my desktop filled with pictures and motivational posters. When I don't feel like working out, I just click through a few of those and my ass is working out in no time
