Its more going away than healing. It doesnt hurt them, or itch or anything. It is really just dry skin on their head. My son had it off and on untill he was six months, and the baby oil didnt really help that much for him. I just wasnt that worried about it because he has dry sensitive skin anyways, and it is hard to find things that work for him. Its really common and completely normal.

be careful with the baby oil. i tried that on my sons head at first and it made it worse which is why i had to switch to the baby lotion on his head. it took about a week after i started the lotion for it to stop and for him to start growing his hair back. its taken 2 months for his hair to fully come back.

My son's skin was never dry before. His skin is always nice and soft, moist. The weird thing is when I put lotion on his face, he gets these red spots.. Like basically his skin is great without me bothering it. If I do stuff to it, it doesn't like it and it reacts.

hmm yeah a visit to the doctor may be able to help out more especially with you saying he has reactions towards you putting lotion on his skin. his pedi might be able to give you something easier for his skin to use for the cradle cap.

Yeah it's weird. I can't do anything to his skin. I remember I posted about why my son has dry skin when he was a newborn, everyone said it's going to be dry and peel off and it did. I thought after it dries and peels off, I have to put lotion to make it moist and everything but nope.. from that day I put it on, his skin grew these red bumps/spots. I read somewhere that it said lotioning babies 2 times a day is the best.. I was just trying to give him the best..

hmm. thats strange.. some babies do come out with dry skin sadly. i doubt you have done anything wrong to him. his skin is just probably super sensitive. have you talked to his pedi about that being an issue before?

If its not cradle cap, it could be eczema dry skin. Its hard to tell from the pic but if its rough and scabby looking I thinks its dry skin. My son had it on his scalp

What type of lotion are you using? It sounds like he may have sensitive skin. My son has both sensitive and dry lol, so I'm just lucky I guess. It was never bad where he was peeling or anything but he does get contact exima(sp??) really easy. My son would get baby acne anytime I put anything on his face, so I just leave it alone, but we use lubriderm lotion. It is unsented, and we like it better than the other stuff for sensitive skin because it isnt so thick and sticky. If your that concerned with it, just go see/call your doc.

Oh no.. his skin is never dry. Never peels or anything. always soft. IF I DON'T do anything to it. It was just when he was a newborn he had that newborn skin, that drys and peels off. After that was done, he had perfect skin. I use the johnsons baby cream. The pink one. I put that on his face and body and it would have red bumps and spots. I just leave his skin alone, it's the best. I asked his pedi and he said it's normal. he's retarded sometimes

If its red bumps and spots I think its evens, it doesn't have to be all over, It can just be on certain spots, try using unscented cram and shampoo

Yeah thats what I used and he broke out. My Sons skin doesnt peel or anything like that either, he has patches of contact exima(sp). Thats the only dry skin he has. Other than that, he has sensitive skin (completely unrelated issue) which means certain things are going to make his skin break out. Using things like sented lotion (like anything johnson), or sented laundry soap makes him break out. For his cradle cap, if you want to put something on it, use an unsented lotion. Even if you dont feel he needs it anywhere else, it will help his cradle cap, because cradle cap is dry skin on his head.
