Quoting jami [♥]:" I've started strongly considering trying this birth without an epi. I am planning to labor as much as ... [snip!] ... is pushing just the easy part? Also if you need stitches , do they numb you first, or do you feel them sewing you back up?"
I went natural with #2
and needed a pitocen drip for #3 because I stalled dilation at 8cm
I had originally planned on an epi with both of them but they came much faster than expected and there wasn't time for one, but honestly if I were having more kids I'd go natural again...
I HATED induction with #1 and even though I had the epi with him now I don't think I really would have needed it...
going natural was tolerable it hurt yes but it wasn't nearly as bad as I had expected.
And yes if you need stitches they give you a local anestetic in order to sew you back up.
Pushing wasn't bad, if anything it made me feel better...it was the contractions that were the most painful for me.
