My doctor told me this?

posted 11th Oct
She said that once I reach 35 weeks, if I was to go into labor, that they wouldn't stop it.

Isn't 35 weeks considered premature? I figured the docs would wanna keep her in as long as possible.

I just thought they would always try and stop labor, if it isn't already too late, and if it's before 37 weeks. Not saying I absolutely WILL go into labor at 35 weeks, but of course anything is a possibility(and I hope for LO's sake that it doesn't happen.)

Should I say something about it?

It depends on the hospital and state. Some places stop anything before 35 weeks, while some stop it before 36.

If it is important to you step up! Your body your baby. I demanded meds till I am 38 weeks to stop labor.

No. 36 is considered "full term" for many people, even though many disagree. I know women who have been electively induced at 36 weeks.

Really?
Because all I've ever known is 38 weeks to be term and 40 to be full term.
OP your hospital is probably equipped well to handle premies, otherwise I'm sure they would want to stop it. And if you did go into labour at 35 weeks, if you were adamant about them trying to stop your labour, they probably would. I know at my hospital they try to stop it until like 37 but if you go into labour before then and they can't they automatically transfer you to a bigger hospital with a NICU.

Hope this isn't true.. I've been contracting all morning and I'm on my way to l&d but because i want them to stop them. I had my son at 35 and he stayed in the nicu almost 2 weeks

I just want her to develop as much as possible. My doc tells me at every appointment how great she is doing, but that doesn't mean she wouldn't have complications if born that early. I mean, the likelihood that that happens, I feel is very slim. But you can never know for sure. I guess I'll just tell her that I'd prefer them try and stop it before 37-38 weeks. I have a huge fear of having her too early and her having to stay in the NICU or something and not getting to come home with me.

It is. Doc told me at my last appointment, in quote, "Since you're pretty far along now, if you go into labor anytime after 35 weeks, we wouldn't stop it."
