Why does this happen to me??? * Birth control

posted 11th Oct
I have tried different birth controls over the last 5 years, and every one of them work great for about 3 months then I start a period and keep it around until I have to take estrogen pills to finally stop bleeding. The first that I tried was Yaz, I was on it right at 3 months and started my period in early May, and it continued until late August. I was taken off of it, then once I finished my estrogen pills, was put on femcon ( not really sure that's right.) And the same thing happened after three months. Then I was put on ortho trycyclen lo, and it only took about 6 weeks before it started the long period. I took a break from all birth control up until I had DS in December '11. I was put on the mini-pill while breastfeeding, and had a period every other week for 6 months. Wasn't too worried about that, since it isnt the type to control periods. But I was put on Lo estrin (not sure the whole name) back in July, and it was amazing... Until last month. I am now on day 25 of bleeding. This would not bother me if it was light bleeding / spotting, but I am having a full out period with cramps, tons of bleeding.. all the good stuff. I stopped taking the pill a few days a go, because I don't see the need for it when I'm not having sex due to bleeding. I really do not know what to do. I'm tired of birth control making my already bad periods, 10x worse. Has anyone else had this problem?? I can't use condoms, we have tried so many and I break out with latex, lube, everything. I don't want any more babies until I'm out of college, but I don't want to switch birth controls again and have this happen again. Is there a birth control that doesn't mess with periods? Ugh!!!!! I've tried calling my doctor, but they never answer and I can't get a new doctor until the first of the year with new insurance.. so any advice??

Is that one that goes inside of you? If so, do you have/ have you had it? I'm afraid of stuff getting attatched to whatever it goes into. Lol. I'm paranoid about stuff like that. But I will read up on it. Thank you.

For me, I used Mirena .. it does have the 'chance' of all these different things like attaching and such but I had NO issue with it & I don't know anyone that has had an issue either.

For me I had a HUGE period when I first started it - not for months but like 2 weeks and it was a lot of blood. After that it came every month a normal period 5-7 days then every two months and eventually my period actually went away. There are bc that you can take that have no hormones im pretty sure the Mirena has a no hormones form of it. I say its worth a try since you are having so many issues with these pills

I'm gonna get it as soon as I get the clearance for it.

I had a ton of problems with mirena, as have a lot of people. There are numerous lawsuits pending and mirena has been recalled

It has not been recalled. The FDA would have to recall it and it is not on their site as recalled. It is just a lawyers office saying it has been recalled as they have done with the patch and other drugs.

Yeah I saw the commercial for it - but I also see a ton for YAZ and the patch and etc. People like to sue the companies for things happened when on drugs like these - even though they tell you all the things that could happen in their commercials and in the doctors office.

Ahh. MY ob told me it was recalled. There are several links, not just one lawyer, who say it has been.

well my doctor asked me not that long ago (I would say about a month ago) what I was going to do for BC after the baby - I said probably go back to the Mirena - he didn't say it was recalled or anything.

Ok. Get it if you think it would be a good fit for your contraception needs

Well if its available, and since I had it for three years after my daughter with no issues, I am going to try it again.
