Help me!

posted 10th Oct
So, my friend is coming over this weekend to have a play date with our kids. Her son is SN. He has a few issues but the major one is with food. He has Speech apraxia that aids in his picky eating. The odd part is that it is not texture but colors. I am needing a little help with food ideas.

The major one idea I am running with is him making faces in his food with veggies and such to encourage him to try the new foods as well as enjoy eating. He is 4 and will go all day without eating if you don't give him something he likes or wants.

Who has ideas or photos of simple food/face ideas they can share with me?

Do you have a pinterest account? I found a lot of cute ideas on there. Here's one of them, looks pretty simple, yet nutritious.

I am embarassed to say this but Yes, I just don't know how to navigate the damn thing. lol

that does look cute and healthy!

His poor mom. She is not a kid crafty type of person so this thought that I brought to her attention sounds like something that will work. However, I can come up with the idea not execute. lol

Haha, took me awhile to get the hang of it and actually get into it. In the top left hand corner, I typed in ''food faces'' in the search bar. Find one you like, click the pic and it will enlarge. Click it again and it will bring you to the original website it's from and should have the recipe or instructions to make it. I also tried ''veggies with faces'' and other conjunctions like that and found some really cute idea.

Thanks! I will have to try that. I have until Friday. I am going to do my massive grocery shopping so I need to have my "menu" planned out for the little smurf. He is cute as a button though. Onery as the day is long. lol He is delayed in many areas but those don't seem to be as large of a struggle for his parents as the eating is. He doesn't even like chocolate milk or juice boxes!! What kid doesn't beg for those?

Aww. I can't imagine how difficult that would get. My toddler goes through his phases of being super picky and a complete turd, it doesn't usually last all day though. But, I have to find creative ways to get him to eat. He's not the biggest fan of juice, but he would live off chocolate milk if he could!

Saw this one and thought it was adorable! Especially if he likes Sesame Street.

That is too cute! That would be great for a baby's birthday!

I honestly can't imagine how hard it is either. I am pretty lucky. All my kids are good eaters, they are very smart with no delays or problems at all. I just don't know what I would do if the roles were reversed. I guess I would just have to "do it". I am a SAHM so it might be easier on me vs her a working mom. being able to SAHM affords more one on one working time, him having to go to a sitter can undo all the work her and her husband put in if the sitter isn't on the same page. Ugh, I guess I just need to thank the lord above for my blessings.

Oh I feel the same way! I only work a couple shifts a week, and they are short shifts. Fortunately my husbands schedule coordinates with mine where we do not need a sitter, and if for any reason we do my mother watches my children. I definitely thank God every day for my smart and healthy babies!

I have a couple friends with SN children and the amount of therapy they go through seems so intense. I can see where going to daycare would totally un-do any progress that was made.

My ssmurf in laws child doesn't speak. He is 1 month younger than my son (they are 2) and doesn't have anything in his vocabulary except baby, momma, daddy, nanna, matty. He screams and points for every thing. I don't know that the child is delayed or if that is a direct result of his cow of a mothers lazy parenting (I am more inclined to believe the later).

I am just fortunate that my children are healthy. That is what I think every time I see the struggle come across her face. She does well though. I am medicated to keep calm. lol I don't know if I could do it otherwise.

That's too bad   poor baby. My niece is a bit delayed in some areas, and we are almost positive it is because of the way my sister parents, or lack thereof. It's really a shame. But my niece has been living with me for a little over a month and she has already flourished in so many ways! She's almost 15 months old and is now just starting to eat table foods, but my God is she picky and can only eat the tiniest of bites.

Just having my niece with me has shown to be challenging. I don't know what I would do if her or my children had needs that were much greater.

that is good for her that you have her. My husbands cow of a sister got married to a guy she didn't even date for 9 months because we were, got pregnant because we had kids. She is 4 years older than him and felt that he shouldn't have married me because she didn't get to get married first. I hate her and the monster in law with every fiber of my being.

Wow! Sounds a lot like my sister. At 18 she purposely got pregnant by the meth and heroine addicted felon that she had been dating for 6ish months. She was jealous because I had just had my son a few months back and wanted the attention he got. Her BD went back to jail shortly after she got pregnant and wasn't released until 6 weeks after my niece was born, and got married immediately. He was in jail last month for a couple parole violations

My sister stays with him even though he can't keep a job because he can't stay away from meth, and the only place they will ever be able to live in are apartments surrounded by other felons.

DHS got involved and said they were taking my niece, or she had to get away from her husband and live with me and my family.

My sister is younger than me, but always feels that she needs to be the first to do everything. I found out I was having a girl a few weeks after she found out she was having a girl. She threw the biggest fit and said I was ''stealing her thunder'' lmao, she wanted to have the only granddaughter.

LOL. Every family has one. Well, I do have the only grand daughters and it pisses my ssmurf off. lol The bigger part that pisses her off is that we have Twin girls. They were born a few weeks before her sham wedding that we didn't attend. I also have the first grandson and he is named after my husbands and my father. I didn't do it to piss her off but it cracks me up knowing that it does.

I love it! My sister wanted twins and was disappointed when the sonogram showed only one lol. We also have the only grandson, and the first grandchild. His first name was a form of our Grandfather's name.

I feel bad sometimes that every time my sister tries to do something like me, we kind of one up her. It's never on purpose though lol

I didn't expect twins. I wish that I had them one at a time but, I still love my bundle of beauties! It is easy for me to be their mom. I am just tired of everyone grouping them together as a package deal. As they get older, it is less frequent but it still happens.

Dustin and I live our lives for us. Ashley is so insecure in who she is that she is sneaky and does decietful things. I could sit here for hours telling you about all the awful crap her and her mother have done to me. I shouldn't say it but, I will dance a little jig on the monsters grave when she dies! I honestly hate and despise them that bad. The straw that broke the camels back was over a baby name. April of '10 we were in AZ for a funeral. i was pregnant with my son at the time as was the ssmurf. The monster asked what our names were we said "Alexander John, Isaiah," Before I could spit out the last one she says "Don't you dare tell me Anthony (his dad's and grandfathers name)" I said "funny enough, it is in the running." Alexander and Isaiah were for the girls if they were boys so we were carrying them over. Alexander is a family name on my side and John was my grandfather. Well, the ssmurf was considering Atticus and Sawyer. Total different playing fields we were good.

May '10 the monster comes to the girls birthday. We are shopping and I am buying something for the ssmurfs spawn. Monster in law proceeds to tell me that the Ssmurf has decided to name her son Alexander. I fume for weeks, husband calls the ssmurf and she says "No, we are considering Daniel and Jacob". Kids are born, Hers is daniel and mine ends up being Anthony because we couldn't agree on the others but were going to use Alexander should we have another boy.

for over a year Monster taunts me and pisses me off about the Alexander thing telling me ssmurf was going to use it right up to the moment her son was born yadda yadda yadda. All to piss me off.

November '11, ssmurf is pregnant with another boy. His name is to be Matthew Quinn. Monster says she hates Quinn because the father chose it and she hates the father.

January '12 Text message comes out Matthew Alexander is here!

She managed to convince the Ssmurf to use our name because she hates BIL and myself. She managed to piss us both off in one shot. Well, now every time she looks at that little boy she will be reminded what an ass hole she really is. I called her out on it in July infront of my father in law. Pretty much embarassed her for the bulk of her shameless deeds. Haven't said more than 3 words to her since.
