Miscarriage positive test

posted 10th Oct
I was 5 weeks as of Monday and started bleeding Sunday night. Went to the dr Monday and today for HCG readings and won't get the results until tomorrow afternoon. I know you still get a positive test for a while after a miscarriage, but I took one tonight just to see how faint it had gotten and it was darker than the one I had taken Sunday morning, much darker. The dr's office even said the one on Monday they gave me was super faint. Any advice?

Are the doctors sure you're miscarrying? Was it the same brand of test? Same time of day? A lot of factors can effect how dark the line is. I'm sorry you're going through this.

How much did you bleed? I'd say either your pee was just more concentrated this time, or maybe you didn't actually miscarry.

I had taken 6 to confirm pregnancy. 2 each day one in the morning and one in the evening 2 days apart. This one was extremely darker than all the rest from before the bleeding started.

Oh I bled a good bit Monday and passed clots. It might have been more concentrated but all my lines were extremly faint, even the one they gave me at the dr monday. This was way extremely darker than all of them. I would only assume if you miscarry that your lines would keep gradually getting fainter.

Yeah that's what I would assume too. I guess all you can do is wait for the blood results! GL

This sounds really similar to what happened to me.

I started bleeding and I just assumed I was miscarrying. I continued to take tests for a couple of days and the lines kept getting darker.

I bled for an entire week, and the doctor kept checking my hcg every 2 days. It was doubling every 3-4 days instead of every 2 days. Everything turned out fine. I have a healthy 9 month old to prove it.

Good luck!

There are a bunch of things that can cause bleeding and clots in early pregnancy besides a miscarriage. It could have been a twin pregnancy and one twin might not be developing or a SCH (basically a tear in the placenta) It normally causes a ton of bleeding, but doesn't normally hurt the pregnancy. I'm one of those lucky ones that bleeds during early pregnancy. Both my good pregnancies and my bad ones.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything is just fine in there.   It will pretty hard for them to figure out what's going on for another 2 weeks or so.

Sending good thoughts and tons of sticky dust your way!!! If your HCG has gone up, I'd say wait it out before they try to give you a D&C or meds. Even if they give you an ultrasound and don't see anything, wait. We had an ultrasound at 6 weeks 1 day my last pregnancy and all they could see was the sac. No baby or heartbeat.

Hope all goes well for you!!

Thanks for all the advice ladies. My levels arrived later than expected, like right before they closed so I will be getting a call first thing in the morning. I'm a nervous wreck because I took another test tonight and it is a good bit darker than yesterdays. So confused

Are you still having bleeding? Are you having any cramping? Is it possible your placenta is covering your cervix right now?

Oh I hope you get good news tomorrow.

I'm still bleeding but it's lightened up and tonight was just a little red and mostly brown. I'm hoping for good news too
