You can always speak with me! I have a stepson who's 12 with aspergers, I also used to work with elementary children with aspergers and autism, as well as I have my bachelors in psychology and I'm getting my teaching license right now with a master's in special education. I would love to give you any support or advice that you need. Make sure after you find out the proper diagnoses, to really do your homework! Do some research yourself - honestly, sometimes the doctor's just want to throw medication at the child. Research what those meds can do to your child - pros and cons. We found out the hard way what side effects they had and although each child responds differently to the meds. There is a lot of support out there for children with autism - therapy, an IEP when they enter school, support groups, etc. Once you find the reason, then it's just finding out what to do to help your child the best you can. It's a daily struggle, but well worth it when you learn and find out new things. I speak with my stepson's special ed teacher weekly - either by phone or email and it helps a bunch. Don't be afraid to ask me anything or just to support you. Good luck to you and your DD.

My heart goes out out to you and the challenges you are facing. I realize it's difficult to see your daughter go through this and not know what the future holds. Be assured you'll be in my thoughts and prayers, asking God to give you strength and wisdom for your parenting journey. I'm with an organization called Focus on the Family. They have counselors you can speak with over the phone (at no cost to you) that would love to offer you some support and advice as you walk through all of this. You can reach them by calling Monday through Friday between 6:00 A.M. and 8:00 P.M. (MT) at 1-855-771-HELP (4357). If you like, you can also go to the Focus on the Family website which offers some articles , book recommendations and referrals for ADHD, autism and Asperger's. I hope this information is a help. Grace and peace.
