Castor Oil?

posted 10th Oct
I am thinking of trying castor oil, my grandfather who has cancer really wants me to have my daughter on his birthday "10/29" and i'm due 11/01. my mom took castor oil while she was pregnant with me and my sister in law did it with my nephew. Wondering if it helped you or if anyone has any other natural remedies to try! I know sex is supposed to help a lot. I've been walking up and down stairs and walking in general. My next OB appointment i'm going to see if they can scrap my membrane. if you have any tips that'd be great! i really want to have her on my grandpa's birthday!

Uh oh. Your probably about to get quite a lot of mean post, but I definitely wouldn't do it. It's more likely to give you bad diarrhea than to cause you to go into labor.

No No No No

There are plenty of reasons why you shouldn't do something like this.

Why don't you ask your Dr to strip your membranes? That can push labor along if your body is ready.

Basically, if your body isn't ready to go into labor nothing you try at home is going to work. The only sure way to have a baby on a certain day is a c-section. even inductions don't work all the time.

Castor Oil REALLY?? Your baby will come when it is ready to be here. Dont risk his/her life! Google the effects of castor oil for pregnancy...you wont like what you see.

Well..you're not going to get good responses to this.

You shouldn't try to put your body into labor until your body and your baby are actually ready. You can cause a lot of complications. Castor oil can make you dehydrated and some people have reported their babies passing meconium in the womb which is dangerous if you baby inhales it. Just wait until she's ready or at the very least don't do anything without your doctor's supervision and direction so you don't hurt yourself and your LO.

DO NOT take Caster Oil! every friend of mine who is a nurse/ midwife./ in medical school... ALL have told me it's one of the worst things you can do, it can cause problems with your labor and delivery and it also makes everything WAY more painful! Just walk and have sex and hope for the best...

she wants to try it to have the baby 2 days before her due date. I get that these topics are hot buttons but, at least read the entire post

Or maybe talk to your doctor about trying to induce you 3 days early. It's way less risky than trying something at home on your own.

How about no.

It won't make the baby come, may or may not give you the smurfs. Save yourself from ingesting that nasty smurf.

I did. She wants her membranes stripped next week (not like they are going to).

Actually, they can and will at 38 weeks. It won't put her into labor unless her body is ready. Mine were stripped with my girls at 38 weeks and with my son at 38 weeks 3 days.
