If he doesn't normally joke like that and he was being serious than It honestly sounds like he was testing the waters to see how you would react. Like dropping hints to him cheating.

This. My DH pulled that once, and I told him exactly what Mummy-2-2-Monsters said. It shut him up REAL quick.

I just texted him about it and he was being a real jerk.

Wow.maybe try saying "it really bugged me and hurt my feelings when you said that" nd let him now how big of a deal it is to you weather or not it is to him.

He just called me and kept saying it was a joke, and not to dwell on it. He knows how stuff like that makes me feel. I guess I'm just going to have to keep a close eye on him for a while.

Don't mistrust him completely. That can cause a larger problem in your relationship than his innapropriate joke.

No, we joke like that all the time. It's no big deal to me. It's funny and a joke id laugh my ass off and tell him alright Ill get to it(;

That was probably a joke, a really bad one none the less. I would probably bitch at him for making smurf jokes like that, and leave it at that lol

Nope, you're not the only one!! DH & I have a very fun relationship. We are ALWAYS joking around with each other. We text all day while he is at work & I will text him asking what he's doing & he will say things like "working up a sweat with this sweet chick I met the other day" when in reality I know he is sweating his ass off at work. I will text him asking when he is going to be home so I can make sure I get my boyfriend out of the house in time when in reality he knows I'm surrounded by our kids while I'm looking hit in my yoga pants lol

Absolutely they would, and it is a really common way people handle guilt. It's trying to approach something serious with comic relief.

DH and I are like how you explained you and your DH... we make comments like that all the time. But OP stated he is being weird with his phone and other red flags.

OP, I would just talk to him about it. There's probably a good chance he was just joking, but just tell him his comment threw you off guard.
