How did you tell your parents?
posted 10th Oct
First, i'm not exactly 100% sure that i am pregnant, but with each passing day it's getting harder to not think that i am. I am 19 years old and in college 2 states away from all of my family and friends. And I'm terrified that when i find out for sure if i am or not that i wont be able to tell my parents. I know they will be disappointed in me, and the thought of that terrifies me. Does anyone have any advice on how i can break the news to my family?

I was worried about telling my parents too but after the initial shock they jumped on board and are now very excited for their first grandson. Just prepare for the worst and you'll be pleasantly surprised I'm sure.
Best of Luck!

On christmas eve, i paid my three year old niece 2 dollars to tell my dad (mom already knew) she walked into the living room and said papa, auntie is pregggggggggnant! Haha but i suggest tellin mom first, they seem way more understanding and u might get lucky and she will break the news to ur dad!

You need to go to a clinic and get a test done to confirm whether or not you are actually P and if so, how far along you are. TODAY! Then you can decide whether or not you should tell them. And if you are going to tell them then when.
IMO if you plan to end the pregnancy, finish college, and move on with your life then there is no point in saying anything unless you are really close to them.

Well with both of my pregnancies someone always ruined it.
With my 1st I was going to get a meeting set up with my school counsler to tell her. I was 17 at the time.
The second time I was 19 and caught it early at 4 weeks. I was going ro wait till about 10 weeks and tell her over dinner but y aunt called her behind my back the day I found out and told her. I told her my plan when I was going to tell my mom but she of course lied to my fave

I was 19 as well and had just moved into an apartment with my b/f (now husband) My mom was bringing furniture over and her and my husband were carrying it up the 3 flight of steps and I wasn't and I heard her say thanks for the help lol. But then before she left I said mom I have to tell you something and she looked at me weird and I told her and she was really excited and said "I'm going to be a grandma!" And she was crying. Took it way better than I thought she would

I was married and was 22 and scared to tell my parents.... I called up my dad who is the calm one and told him while crying because I was scared of what my mom would think.... told my mom later that day. Called her while she was at work. Makes it easier for her to not jump down your throat. Mom hates husband because we are so far away. But with it being her first and only grandson so far both parents are really excited... when it cones down to it later on, it's part of you and part of them... parents want babies, they just don't want them to keep and raise again. Lol. They'll get excited later on... boy or girl. It's going to be their grandbaby... they get to spoil it and give it back to the parents..

Find out for sure if you are first.
Once you know it will be easier to decide what you want to do.
With my first we lived out of state and I called my godmother first and told her...well my mom was there and my godmother was a little too excited and next thing I know my mom is on the phone...she was happy for us but of course thougth we were too young.
Good luck in whatever you decide!

I was 18 when I found out, I just showed up at my dad's and when I told him he just hugged me and told me it'd be okay, he told my mom later that day. He also made me move back home so I'd always have food and a roof over my head.
