The tend to go for wires once they become mobile. I ended up getting rid of my coffee table to give her more room to walk and crawl plus she always knocked down all of my decorating smurf.

I'd start with putting caps on the plug-ins and then baby proof the cabinets

I have the caps for the plugs, just didn't really know where to go from there.

Is he crawling yet? Get down on all fours and see what he can get into then go from there. But I'd work on getting latches for the cabinets for now and then just do more as time goes on.

lol at 5 months ds was a big boy too. He was 22lbs 16.5 oz and 29inches long.

He started crawling a month ago and the first he went for was the dvd player and my laptop cord. Those were things I didnt worry about. Once he got to the kitchen he didnt really do anything but go after the dog food bowl so we have to pick that up after the dog eats. We have to big angels sitting on the tv stand he went after too I just pushed them back out of reach.

I never baby proofed them. I have two in my living room and he doesn't seem that interested in them. But the wholes in them are not big enough for him to get his fingers stuck or anything. If your really worried about the vents then I'd suggest maybe looking into different vent covers like with smaller wholes.
