Due NOW and want to be induced!

posted 10th Oct
My due date is today... this is my third child and just like the last two babies I feel labor pains, contractions, braxton hicks, cramping and VERY sore for a few weeks already. I am very done being pregnant and I have a 4 year old and a 1 year old to chase after but I can barely walk.
I am wondering if anyone knows, can I request to be induced by the hospital since I am due right now? My doctor says she can't until 10 days over ( I was induced 10 days over with the last baby) but I have read that you can request it if you are THAT uncomfortable. I am in Manitoba, Canada by the way.

Your baby obviously isn't ready and pregnancy hurts. Since you don't have medical issues I don't think it will matter that your uncomfortable.

Most hosptials won't induce unless medically needed. I doubt you can just walk into the hospital and say its my due date induce me. Due dates can be off by a week or so.

Do you know the exact day you concieved?
Because most women don't, and your due date could be off by as much as 2 weeks. Just go for long fast walks, have sex, and relax. For me, cleaning all day and the cervidil in the hospital put me in labor at 10 days overdue. I'm so glad I didnt have to have pitocin because I've heard horrible stories.
If your body isn't ready and you try to get induced, it can end in a csection. Is that what you really want?

Wait it out. Everyone is uncomfortable at the end of pregnancy. Don't force the baby out before it's ready.

My friend was just induced at 39 weeks and there was no medical need for it. They did an ultrasound at 38 weeks and told her the baby was ready to go and if she wanted they could induce her at exactly 39 weeks, but no sooner due to insurance. I'm sure every doctor and insurance coverage is different. Your due date can be off though. With my 2nd I was schedule to be induced at 39.5weeks and that was on a wednesday, but I ended up having him the sunday before and he only measured 37 weeks :-/

Yup, that's what happened to me. I was supposed to be 38 weeks and when I developed Pre-E they decided to go on ahead and induce me. When LO came out she measured at 33 weeks. And lived her first two weeks of her life in the NICU.

OP I feel your pain. But I don't believe the Hospital will induce without it being medically necessary. I hope it's not much longer for you.

I'm surprised she hasn't offered you a sweep yet. Has she even talked about it? I had three done, they only work if baby is ready. My ds came 3 days after the third, so I don't think they actually worked. Super short labor though.

wow, they were really off on your due date. I wasn't induced and he was an emergency csection, so there was no way to keep him in longer :-( We did luck out though, he never had to go to the NICU. It was me that had to stay in the ICU instead.

I'm going against the grain here, because my OB and doctor for my son will induce, upon request as soon as you are 39 weeks.
It doesn't have to be medically necessary.
Although it's not the best thing to do, I would ask and find out if I was you.

  SmUUUUUUUrf yeah it is!
My first I was induced ON my due date.
Second I was indcued bc they said baby was big (7lbs 15 ozs was birth weight)
both times it hurt like hell, contractions were a nasty evil bitch. I hope and pray if we have another I can go natural, no pitocin!
