Id love a gate but idk if i would be able to attach it. There isn't anything , like a wall or whatever, to attach it too. I'll study it a bit more though. Maybe I can take a few more pics to show the area better.

Lol DS covers our vents, I have no idea why either and he's 4.

One of my neighbors has a similar ledge on her fireplace and her mil made a really cool paded seat for it. I wish I could sew.

That's the only vent for the area. It provides most of the heat/cooling for both the living room and kitchen.
I'm really hoping he tires of it soon.

See about getting a pool drain cover maybe big enuff for it and screw it into the floor since there rasied and have holes.

Maybe someone on your Facebook can sew, or has a machine. Sewing on a machine is really easy, you can teach yourself. If I were closer, I'd offer to help, but I'm in NC
