idk what to do..

posted 10th Oct
Lately my 3 year old daughter has been having trouble getting to sleep.

for the past week she's been going to bed around 3am & lastnight went to bed at 6am.

she refuses naps during the day...so I'm thinking she's over tired.

idk, what the hell to do....

any advice is greatly appreciate.

Have you tried a bed time ritual. DD has a bath gets in her jammies and we have "calm down time" where we sit and relax, she can tell me stories or we might watch a little Mickey mouse club house, than at 9 pm I read her a story and let her pick a friend to go to bed with, after her story I turn out the lights and she can lay in bed and talk to her friend but she isnt allowed to get out of bed for anything, she usually falls asleep within 30 minutes.

we have a ritual every single night.

I give her dinner, then a bath, snack, and read a book& then I try to put her to bed but nope...she doesn't ever fall asleep.

The best thing is to have a routine, and a scheduled bed time. For example, this is what we do with my 3y/o: at 8:15 I tell him it's time to go potty, when he's done with that, he comes out, gives a hug and kiss to his Dad, then we go in his room and read 2-3 books, usually until about 8:40-8:45, then it's hug and kiss, tuck him in, lights off and good night. It took some time to get there, but he's finally there. Usually falls asleep with no argument after that. No TV, no sippy cups, etc. It's been a lifesaver for stress-relief at bedtime, I think because we all know what to expect. Also, it's important that she gets up at the same time in the morning. I think everything with young kids is routine, routine, routine. The more of a routine you have, the easier a lot of things are, including bedtime and meal times. Good luck!
