POOP

My 21 month old son has been having some major loose stools lately. It's been going on for the past week. A few times it has exploded out his diaper. The first few days his poop smelled so bad, it made me throw up. He's going 1-4 times each day, and it's really loose but not quite watery, with pieces of undigested food. As far as I can tell he's not teething or sick in any other way. He's acting normal, maybe eating a little bit less than he usually does, but still has a good appetite. I'm guessing he has some kind of bug, but I'm not sure. Has anyone experienced this with their toddler? What did it turn out to be caused by? So far he has never had any allergies or food sensitives, he drinks soy milk but eats regular dairy products and gets 1-2 cups of juice a week as a treat. Any ideas?

Most likely stomach bug. Stick to the BRAT diet to help the diarrhea.

Turned out to be a bacterial infection in my dd that only got worse. It went on for 2 weeks before she got a fever and bloody/'mucusy stool. She had to have antibiotics in the end. The first week was exactly how you described it. I think if it goes on for many more days see the pedi, then they may do a stool sample to check for bacteria. Hope he feels better soon!

I think I'll call the dr tomorrow if this continues.
