solids in general (baby food) should always been given after a bottle or breast feeding.

With my oldest it was 6 months and my youngest 4 months cuz she wanted more and hates her bottles so i gave her cereal on a spoon never in the bottle. On the box it says at 4 months you can start good luck.

I wouldnt introduce table food at 4 months, but with jarred baby food, start with veggies first then fruit. But still BF him, since food before a year is just for practice. And when you DO introduce table food, stay away from eggs, cows milk, and peanut butter since these can cause bad allergic reactions in kids under a year.

I know.

I was thinking that maybe the little jarred gerber foods would be okay to start after he hits 4 months...but Idk. Buying all that extra formula is killing us, ...My girls never went through milk like this.....I need a cow,lol

Even if you give him jars he still needs all the formula is drinking now. You don't EVER reduce the formula because they are getting jarred food. The primary source of nutrition is BM or formula UNTIL 12 months.

You know, she has a point. If a doctor can be wrong, so can we. Atleast they have training dealing with babies. Do you?

yep. this is still true. DD is eating some solids now, but still downs formula like a little piggy

she'll usually eat solids MAYBE once a day (about half a little gerber container, maybe the whole thing), and then her regular amount of formula afterwards.

OP, do you shop at sam's? and what kind of formula does your son use? the sam's club brand is 3 pounds of formula for about $20 and it's exactly the same as enfamil. i love it

I can imagine how it is on your pockets. But honestly, I'd just keep with the formula. Their gut flora is still open around now, and it can cause a lot of issues (like IBD) when they're older.
