Whenever
And
Basics
Change of clothes
Old underwear
Tooth brush
Tooth paste
Robe
Hair car stuff
Make up( if ya want)
Nightgown( if you don't want to wear the hospitals)
Slippers
Chargers for all electronics
Something to do at the hospital
Shower stuff

For baby just pack an outfit or two the hospitals usually provide everything else.

Also instead of wearing the huge uncomfortable pads from the hospital I bought femal depends and lined the inside with thin over night pads. So much more comfortable then the giant pads and mesh panties.

bring a towel if you want to shower - at least my hospital only had little hand towels. I still managed though. Oh and an extra pillow for your spouse, we were only offered blankets so he had to make his own out of clothes.

no clipping until 3-4 weeks pp. Baby nails are fused to the skin at birth.

Eh it truly depends. I clipped my kids nails when I got home from the hospital. They were super long.

mine sons were too! I only posted above because I asked for some clippers at the hospital to clip them because of how long they were. Nurse said it wasn't a good idea and that they would just peel away and fall off anyways, which they did. But they grew back super fast so I was cutting them at home within a couple weeks.

My nurses had no problem with it..
My kid would have destroyed her face they were just extra long.
I think if they are going to peel away then might as well just clip them. You just can't clip them down to the nail bed.

ya I guess if you're careful it's no big deal. Just know to look for an attachment.
