TANF vs Child support?

Is it the same?
I heard or read that TANF was something to do with an "absent" parent..true?
Her father is in her life.. So that wouldn't be the case..
How would I go about to file for Child Support - DFACS? Court?
Will it cost me anything to file for it?

TANF is NOT child support

and the state will go after the child for the support, whether you agree to it or not. And if he is ordered to pay childs support, you may not recieve TANF

TANF is TEMPORARY assistance for needy family. Not meant to be permanant or replace child support

If u apply for tanf they will make u go after child support and it will go to the state since u get tanf, no not true my sons fater is not in his life buy my SO supports us my daughters father and he makes to much for us to get tanf. We only bring in 800 after child support is taken out.

The state takes it to pay tanf back and if theres any extra then they will give it to u.


Here u can only get tanf as an adult for ur family for 18 months.

You can get it here for 24 months total (over the course of your life) and my have to pay it back when you can

It might be that i have no clue but here if u get support they take that to pay it back but like i said even after bills we make to much, my case was basically already approve or denied and my foodstamps were approved but my tanf was denied because my SO make to much. And i may end up getting paid for taking care of him. He has a work injury and now they think from the way he walks he is getting scolious or however it is spelled. We also all get medicaid.

Public assistance is so different in every county. You would apply for child support at the child support office, & you would apply for cash assistance at your local welfare office.

Here as soon as you apply for assistance they push the paperwork for child support, I asked about tanf when my ex was a deadbeat and we hadn't seen a dime in like 6 months and they told me they could do tanf and I would be approved but it wouldn't be as much as cs and once I started getting support they would take support money to pay back tanf. My ex SIL got tanf for her daughter but the father was in prison she has since had to start paying all of that back from child support.

Father is not legitimized.. How much chaos will that add to the process of getting it? Where do I go to file it? Local court house or attorney?

Most likely he will get deported her the dept of revenue childsupport enforcement handles it. If ur talking about tanf that would be at ur local wellfare office,

Child support enforcement will do a dna test first.
